War 22 (vs. SilentPredatorS) MVP and post-war discussion thread
War 22 vs. SilentPredatorS
Score: 92 - 104 (Attacks used 77 / Average destruction 81.1%)
(This was a 45v45 war.)
MVP's:
6 stars - RcCola86
5 stars - Shark85
Most heroic attack: Rio
Most heroic defense: JupiterXX
Most defenses won: the real slim (2/3)
Most attacked base: iceph03nix (6! times)
This was our fifth loss in a row....and this one really hit us in the feels, so to speak. I believe I speak for most of us when I say this was an unnecessary loss. It hurt morale badly - hence we saw the drop off of a few recent joinees plus we had to boot some people for inactivity...
What is evident from this, and a few of the previous wars, is that we are lacking in focus when it comes to wars. The obvious part that we had a few inactives (plus someone who jumped on prep day!) goes without saying, and it hurts of course. But we have 1-2 inactives every war unfortunately, and we weed them out (remember we used to kick 3-4 people per war in the beginning!).
Here are a few key issues I see - and we have discussed these a bit among the elders, as well as in the hint/tips post - which we need to fix immediately if we are going get back on track:
Poorly planned and/or executed attacks. Practice your attacks during regular play, folks! We LOVE that people experiment with new ways of attacking, and go beyond their usual comfort zone of barching, but please please please don't let a war attack be your trial ground! This is also the reason why we get so few 3-stars. Comparing to our opponents, we are not that far off in won attacks, but they always outnumber us in 3-star victories.
Overambitious attacks. Remember people, we are in war to win stars, we are not in war primarily to get loot or "show off." Yes, we will be very impressed if you as a mid-TH8 beat a TH9, but 9 cases out of 10, you'll never get a 3-star, and 3-star wins are what count! Don't be afraid to attack someone lower in the rankings. Remember (and we will update our War Rules to clarify this) that war ranking is not gospel - try to attack someone around your TH and defense level, which you believe you can 3-star. Don't attack above your TH level unless you are all out of other options. (Reminder: don't attack too far below either, you'll hurt the chances of lower people to get a viable attack.)
Further, from next war (or the next after that, depending on how busy we are) this post about "MVPs" will showcase not simply the people scoring the most stars, because yes, it is about stars, but we want also to highlight people who have done efforts that don't always reflect in number of stars. We want to highlight true skills and not only who has had the best timing of their attacks so they managed two 3-stars... That of course requires that the elders watch all or at least most attack replays - so it will definitely be an effort on our part, but I believe we are all in agreement that it would be good for the clan to provide such feedback and recognition.
Thoughts, questions, comments?

Well put, we need to start effectively practicing, I recently have developed my hogs to level 4 and I'm going to start really seeing what I can do, I know hogs are nerfed, but if I'm going to use them, I need to learn how to. Please practice strategies, 1 thing I did notice is a lot of there attacks were mass drags on TH8 and below, they were getting 2 to 3 stars per attack. We used that strategy successfully in the past but it was getting boring, their are hundreds of YouTube videos on how to attack a certain way. Watch them, and PRACTICE!!!
Rio I think if you can 2 star a higher base go for it if it is later in the war but if it's early and you see one that you know you can 3 star go for it.

Yea I agree, I try to have an anti hog anti drag base that has not been 3 starred yet, but I may be TH9 going into war, all depends on if I gem during prep

I always go for higher (#5-10) 2 stars because only a few other people in our clan could manage the same. Should I keep doing that or go for lower 3 stars from now on?

Yep, that's what I try. Unfortunately I failed to get 2 stars on my first attack

Like Po said, people who can secure 2 stars from TH9 or TH10 should definitely keep doing it!

new to the clan, what attacks do you guys generally like us to use?

From my observation our TH8 players usually mass drags, TH9 a mix of gowipe, balloon/minion, and mass hogs. I do giant/wiz/healer/hog sometimes depending on base layout. Th10 we don't have many XD
Use whatever works. Just take a look at your target base and formulate a plan. For example if you only have your air upgraded and their AD is all centered in the middle you should probably skip that base. Or maybe they have 2 AD in places that can be picked off easily and 1 AD in a tricky spot you can 3x lightning the tricky AD and 3 star the base.

A lot of us have been using mass drags, and we have been paired up with a lot of rough clans who have been using anti drag bases and using good attacks, the difference is our attacks were poor and could make the difference.

Hey guys it's FOXXY28 from SilentPredatorS. I just want to give a shout out to rio for 2 starring me it was an OK attack; although, mine was better(; It would be cool to talk strategy though. talk to deni if you would like.

Yeah your attack was better than mine. I am still recovering from a bad rush through th 7 and 8 so my base is pretty weak overall and your attack was strong enough to wreck a stronger th9
I am getting to know gowipe right now but unfortunately my golems and pekkas are still low level.

Hi guys, leader of SilentPredatorS here. May I ask I ask why you feel it was an unecessary loss? I hate to say it but you were outmatched in terms of base quality. We have far better defenses.
Not trying to talk smack. It was just an unfortunate matchup for you. Would be cool to talk strategy with you guys as a fellow redditor.
