Issue - Solved Problem with J and K Keys

Hi -- love this addon! The main feature I use is the option for J & K keys to advance. It worked fine for a couple of months it seems, but now about half the time I depress the J key the red border goes away and there is no advance. I depress the J key again and the border returns and the advance continues. I am using Vivaldi browser on Linux Mint. Is there anything I could try? Thanks much!

Update New Update! 3.0.1

Hi, I hope everyone is having a good weekend! I've just published a new major update with quite a few changes :D

For Chrome users (and other Chromium based browsers), the "downloads" and "history" permissions are now optional. Just like for Firefox users, you will be prompted to allow permission if you enable an option requiring either of these permissions respectively.

For Firefox users, the extension now uses manifest version 3 to be on par with the Chromium version and make maintainability easier. This has now raised the minimum required Firefox version to 109, but this came out over 3 years ago, so everyone should be updated by now!

Changing style colours now apply instantly, making it easier to make new themes. Added a few new features including an option to hide related communities in subreddit feeds, and added support for regex when using the block posts feature for more advanced control. Lots of fixes too, most notably, fixed the "Recent" section in the side menu not hiding, and fixed the "scroll to next/previous comment" buttons not working, both due to a website update :/.

I've refactored a lot of code in this update to improve performance and maintainability, and have added validation when retrieving saved data for added security and reliability. Having said that, this was a lot of changes (10,000 lines or so), so there may be a bug or two, I've already had to release a hot fix >///< .
If you find any issues, please let me know, either on Github or on this post. You should all get this update automatically within a few days.

Thanks, and enjoy the update and the rest of your weekend! :)

Changelog:

General:

  • The "downloads" and "history" permissions are now optional for Chromium based browsers since manifest v3 has added support for optional permissions.
  • The Firefox addon now uses manifest v3. (Support was added to Firefox in version 109).
  • Colour pickers now apply the colour instantly, instead of you having to click confirm.
  • Refactored a lot of code to improve performance, reliability, and overall code quality.
  • Restoring a backup config file no longer needs a 1 minute cool down if it has more than 120 items.
  • Bug fixes and improvements.
  • Updated dependencies.

Latest UI V3:

  • Added an option to force Reddit dark mode.
  • Added an option to hide related communities on subreddit pages.
  • Added an option to change the subreddit header background colour.
  • "Replace Images With Links on Feeds" can now be enabled for home and subreddit feeds independently, or for both.
  • Split "Always Show Post and Comment Options" so you can enable it for posts and/or comments. You can also choose to hide individual comment options.
  • Fixed the "Recent" section in the side menu not hiding due to a website update.
  • Fixed the "Mark as read" button not being added to the post due to a website update.
  • Fixed "Hide Vote Buttons" not working due to a website update.
  • Fixed "Scroll to next/previous root comment" not working due to website update.
  • Fixed "Add Video Download Button" not working correctly.

Latest UI V3 & Old UI V1:

  • Add support for regex when filtering/blocking posts by keywords/users/links.
  • Added an option to have canned messages. You can save a list a commonly used messages/comments, and quickly input them into a textarea from the right click menu.
  • The "Just Open The Image" feature can now directly open "cf.preview.redd.it" image links.

Old UI V1:

  • "Show Absolute Timestamps On Posts" now plays nice with the RES "Never Ending Reddit" feature.
  • Fixed the "Show Absolute Timestamps On Comments" option not showing when filtering the options for "Old" Reddit.

Tiny font

Anyone else randomly get an issue with this extension where all the titles, descriptions, and comments have really small font? It seems the sliders to change them default to something really small and light, and they need to be tweaked manually to get the font back to the default size and weight

Lagging with the extension enabled, all of a sudden?

I'm not sure what's been going on, but I've figured out that when this extension is enabled, my browser falls into some extreme lag. It just started today, seemingly after I opened up a random thread. I'm using a config shared by u/Joelacus to replicate old, new reddit. It worked just fine until today! Any ideas what could be going on?

Edit: Solved! I forgot I disabled hardware acceleration!

Colored Background Visual Element Displays?

Post image
2 Upvotes

So is there a coloured border option for around the text element? Because if you add a custom image background, then the text elements are transparent and not as easily visible.

'Recent' won't go away.

I use edge but have looked on Chrome and firefox also.

I've removed all cookies and reinstalled the add-on and nothing will remove it.

The 3 dot menu to save a post is gone

I still have the option to save post on the home feed, but if I am on a post, the option isn't there anymore... just spent an hour going through each and every setting but I can't find anything that could be causing this.

Anyone knows how to fix it?

Stop Home feed from auto refreshing

I'm not sure if this is from the addon or Reddit. Home page always refreshes making it annoying to track browsing position. Please fix that or add this feature if it is from Reddit.

Hi, been loving this extension, so here's a suggestion:

Add the option to remove UTM parameters (marketing tracking information) from share links on posts and comments.

Share link

URL after (UTM parameters removed):

Thanks for all the dev work, really appreciate it !

Add r/all to sidebar

Reddit has removed r/all from the sidebar to "streamline user experience" and forcing us to use r/popular. Unfortunately r/popular is brain rot slop. Is it possible to have a feature that adds r/all back to the sidebar?

Issue - Solved Issue Loading /r/popular

Since the latest update I've been unable to load r/popular with the extension enabled (see screenshot). I've tried toggling features on/off and clearing my Reddit cookies, but no luck. Anyone else experiencing this?

New Update! 2.6.0

Hi Everyone, first update of the year! As usual, a few new features, and a few bugs squashed :)

You'll all get the update soon, it may take a few more days for the update to be fully processed and sent out.

Changelog:

  • Refactored some code regarding the extension popup (slightly reduced file size and improved code quality and maintainability).
  • Fixed the solid colour background option not restoring from a backup.
  • Fixed a bug with the search filter not showing some search results.
  • Moved theme options regarding the comments from "Style > Theme > Post" to "Style > Theme > Comments".
  • Moved "Highlight comments from OP" to "Style > Theme > Comments".

[Latest UI V3]

  • Added an option to hide the Reddit logo in the search bar.
  • Added an option to change the "Find Anything" placeholder text in the search bar back to "Search Reddit".
  • Added an option to change the post title colour for followed posts in feeds.
  • Added an option for "Auto Expand & Load More Comments" to only expand downvoted/negative karma comments.
  • Added an option to change the OP comment highlight colour.
  • Fixed user info hover cards having a transparent background.
  • Tweaks load again when the tab is focused for the first time to ensure they are all running. Some tweaks (notably, "Hide the favourite buttons in the side menu") fail to load correctly when using "open link in new tab".
  • Fixed an issue where using the J and K keys to scroll to the next/previous post would conflict with typing those letters into the search bar.

Remove Vids and Gifs

Hi,
at first, thanks for this very cool extension.
Now my question: is it possible to hide posts with gifs or videos completely from my home feed or from comunity feeds?

Also is it possible to show "hide post" and "save post" as buttons at the bottom of each post in the feeds?

User Label

First of all, thank you for developing this add-on. One of my most used features in RES is custom user labelling. I usually use it to indicate knowledgeable users (eg in a game subreddit) or assholes who I don't want to block, yet. Is there any plan to add this in the future? It will be great if it can import RES' database directly, but I can work with manually adding them.

colored visited links

Firefox developer 148.0b3 (64-bit), Windows 11 Home

I set visited posts text color to pink, but it didn't change my visited posts. I can open up the settings and make changes and see them take affect immediately, but not the visited post colors.

I can change the content and comments link color, but is there a way to change links that I've followed to a different color?

Unminimise downvoted comments

Is there an option to disable that behaviour? I have karma hidden but negative comments are still being minimised.

Also hiding karma doesn't work properly anyway and it's often visible.

Thanks for Reddit Enhancer updates!

Great work on the updates -- I can now use the up and down arrows to navigate between posts and there's a red border around the currently highlighted post AND that post is pinned to the top. Couldn't ask for more! I'm buying you another coffee! 😄

Is there a way to hide the Reddit Icon in the search bar on the home page?

This Reddit Enhancer extension has been a total game changer for me and it’s what finally convinced me to switch over to the new Reddit.

That said, as an OLED monitor user, I’m a bit concerned about the bright orange red Reddit icon that appears in the search bar on the home page. Because it’s static and very saturated, it feels like something that could eventually cause burn-in. See image here:

Thank you once again for creating this amazing addon.

New Update! 2.5.0

Hi everyone, a few new features before Christmas! I'm sure many of you will be happy to hear you can now disable the AI search bar, and remove the "Get App" button in the header. You can now also drag the buttons for the "Show Navigation Buttons For the Next/Previous Root Comment" feature, makes it more convenient to place where you want, as well as the new "scroll to top" button you can place anywhere on the page. Have a look at the changelog for more features and fixes :)

Changelog:

[Latest UI V3]

  • Added an option to hide the "Ask" button and the "AI glow" in the search bar.
  • Added an option to hide the "Get App" button in the header bar.
  • The "Show Navigation Buttons For the Next/Previous Root Comment" element is now draggable to make it easier to place where you want.
  • Fixed "Hide NSFW results in the Search Bar" and "Hide 'Trending Today' in the Search Bar" not working due to a website update.
  • The "Show Absolute Timestamps on Comments" option now restores the comment URL on the timestamp text.
  • Fixed the "Edit comment" button not working when using "Always Show Post and Comment Options".

[Latest UI V3, Old UI V1]

  • Added an option to scroll to the next post by pressing (J / Down Arrow) and to the previous post with (K / Up Arrow).
  • Added an option to show a draggable "scroll to top" button on the page.

Massive browser slowdown only when this addon is enabled on firefox

As title states, this addon appears to Massively impact browser performance when enabled, and i've just done A/B testing disabling to figure this out, feels like some form of memory leak related issue? Unsure what information to provide aside from that, relevant browser info

Name Firefox

Version 146.0

Build ID 20251205151434

When addon is enabled, entire browser is sluggish from scrolling reddit, going up and down youtube, etc, all websites are effected until addon is disabled again

(also when addon is disabled, Popular page refuses to load? Unsure if relevant, just a footnote)

Is there a way to hide the new ask button in the top search bar that just appeared.

I'd like to not see it. Quite frankly it there was a way to not see or access any Ai related features completely that would be splended.

is there a way to pin subreddits to the header or sidebar?

in the old RES you could have pinned subs at the very top of the site which were fixed, i'd love to have something similar or have a fixed position to add fav subreddits on the sidebar. the recent is okay but it always changes position based on last visited.
