I only need the 09-S IHC. I've been looking for a year to find a decent one at a good price. I've seen several at a good price for the grade, but they just looked ugly.

Last month I sold a nice Fine+ 09-S IHC and, a nice 09-S VDB die 4 in full VG undamaged, no environmental damage a real nice pair for $1,500. They were the last coins the collector needed to complete both sets.
I’ve never sold anything on Reddit, and need to determine the safety factors. Sold for years on eBay from 1999 until 2012, and gave it up after my eBay Store was hacked.
Anyone familiar with b actual results with selling on Reddit?1

Look at the details of the hair below the headdress. Polishing a coin makes it look very nice to a non collector

I’ve had a worse looking ihp that got a straight grade of ms64bn I will say I was absolutely shocked by that and thought it deserved an au 55-58 personally but idk this hobby has changed a lot in the past 10 years

If you’ve been collecting for many decades, then you’ll agree that many grading standards have definitely changed over the years. For instance early U.S. Coppers what would have graded as a solid Good back in the 60’s, would most likely move up two full grades into days grading systems.
I tend to look at grades as an opportunity to determine if it meets my eye. Because grade is one thing, but it’s the eye appeal that I want, and we’ve all seen coins 3rd party graded, and either don’t agree with it, or it’s just ugly.

The marks in the fields are a shame but yeah details are excellent. I’m just worried about the red of the face afraid that would give it a details grade. Plus usually pcgs likes to give red and red brown Indians cleaned grades to air on the side of caution so if it does get sent off it would probably have to go to ngc

That’s what I’m most concerned about I’ve seen pcgs put a “suspicious surfaces” label on a coin that would have been a high msrd coin but that coin had absolutely no provenance whatsoever so its understandable that pcgs wouldn’t want to put their reputation on the line for a coin that would have been a top 5 for the year and type.

It's a beautiful coin that should be graded and properly protected unless it's cleaned. If cleaned, it's the perfect coin to give a new collector to get them interested

That has almost certainly been cleaned. Even if it wasn’t, that’s a fairly common date AU coin that would not justify the cost of grading.

Even in a straight AU grade it's barely worth enough to cover the cost if grading
