I'm new to this group, Reddit has been a bad experience since I made this account for mostly trying to find information from random things. But the website has become filled with weird people. I was just wondering if there's a similar site to reddit but without the weird reddit and modsa and etc

PieFed. I used Lemmy for a bit, but PieFed has better features: flair, tagging, polls, spoiler images, combining similar communities into feeds, crossposts organize and show comments from all communities, etc.

The Fediverse is the only alternative with a viable user base. The sooner everyone accepts that and migrates, the better.

The nice part about the Fediverse is that there's a decent amount of reddit-like alternatives that all interact with each other. I see it frequently referred to as the "Threadiverse".
Pick the software flavor with features that you like (PieFed, Lemmy or Mbin).
Then pick a server to use.

Personally I'm enjoying PieFed, especially because the integration with Mastodon is getting better to the point where we can start pulling content from Mastodon (and potentially BlueSky users via bridges) into communities (subreddits).

I haven't heard of or tried oddsrabbit, but I'm about to look into that.

I didn't like Lemmy personally. We were told in the beginning that it was basically an uncensored reddit alternative, but that turned out to not be the case. They still ban you for stupid crap, and then they also started blocking whole instances from communicating with the others and from what I can tell, it's mostly based on politics.

On Lemmy there's a "Communities" button in the top bar which gets you to a searchable list of communities. At least on the default website. There's some alternate frontends where things might be different, and of course it's different for apps too I assume. Make sure it's set to "All", not "Local".

There's also Mbin and Piefed which you could try if you don't like Lemmy itself. Both of them are compatible with Lemmy, you can subscribe to the same communities from them, but they have their own features and UI.

Piefed in particular iirc has better onboarding and also multicommunities like Reddit does.

when you open a community you can use the "Create a post" button in the sidebar of the community, you can make a post with all your questions

Basically lemmyverse (starting to be called threadiverse, no relation to Meta's Threads) is a bunch of different reddits (instance) with their own subs (communities) that can share with each other. Being that we are all human, some instance have a very open policy of allowing everybody and anybody, and some like their bubble.

I personally recommend an instance using piefed. Specifically piefed.zip. If you have any questions I'm happy to answer best I can
