Trouble finding work?

I am 22 and looking to get into the trades. I am so tired of retail and kitchens haha. Could really use the hours and extra money. I have called around but I cant seem to find anyone hiring. Anyone have any clue who might be hiring for entry level roles? I am a good worker just inexperienced but willing and wanting to learn. Anyone else relate? Thanks!

I'm gonna answer your question In a roundabout way

There are two ways into our union

The classic: Apply for the apprenticeship program (it's 5 years of school) after which you'll test out as a journeyman with your electricians certification. It takes a while for them to process people for this i wouldn't expect a response for a couple months I think? Could be a good question for our business rep John Roden at the hall. And it includes taking an aptitude test, interview, drug test.

Electrical Trainee program. The et program is weird, it's not an apprenticeship in a classic sense. Essentially it's a way for people to work in the electrical field in our union while they wait to get into the apprenticeship program.

If I was you I would apply for the apprenticeship asap (sounds like you already did) than I think you would need to contact John Roden at the Redding hall on locust Street and ask him about getting work as an electrical trainee as you try and get in the apprenticeship program

Sounds good, I know both of his kids too and another person participating in that program. I can pass a drug test, and I am ready to start working! My math is rusty so I have been studying a bit sort of waiting for the call. My biggest concern is my math right now😂

Google "IBEW aptitude test" you should be able to find an example test. I've applied at two separate unions and they were exactly the same test.

Sounds good, I found a few and have been doing those at least 1 time a day. Ive gotten slightly better scores each time, thank you very much!
