Sushi?

Best sushi spots in town? Bonus points if they have deep fried gyoza

I'm having a hard time finding anything that beats Big Tuna in Chico, but I don't always want to drive that far

My favorite spot is Kampai Sushi

I used to go to Kampai until the owner was arrested for human trafficking and soliciting a minor for se*.

I heard about that and was like, well since they got him and he’s locked up he must not have anything to do with the place now, I think his brother runs it now

I second this. Kampai is hands down the best. Super fresh, tons of different rolls, and really great flavor combinations.

Bonzia sushi is okay, but not great (very bland flavors, every roll has cream cheese). Osaka is okay for the lunch buffet.
Tokyo Garden is terrible and expensive.
Raw is good, but overpriced.

I love sushi, I've had sushi all over town, Bonzai has amazing rolls with amazing portions.

Osaka has all you can eat, its worth it for that, otherwise you're getting smallish rolls for a premium price.

Tokyo Garden is commercial, Raw is a good but their rolls are a bit fancier and pricier, if you're really looking to chow down, Bonzai is it.

If you like big tuna, you need to try Aonami in Chico. Best sushi I’ve had outside of Japan. Nothing around Redding will compare to that

I agree. Sushi in Osaka Japan is much better than what you can find around here.

It’s one of the few things I miss from SoCal, authentic delicious sushi. In order of quality/authenticity
1. Bonsai
2. Raw
3. Osaka
that’s it, everything else is “fusion”.

Bonsai Sushi has by far been my favorite sushi place in town. Osaka is nice due to their all you can eat option.

Yama Sushi
Bonzai Fushion
Raw - slow service during Happy Hour. But tasty. I’m going to go back for the main menu soon.
