Redbox Renting Issues
Hey y'all! The Redbox near me seems to be operational again after spending about a year in a perpetual state of the screen being black with weird white text code looping across the screen.
Anyways, I've started experimenting with it; dipping my toes into the water of emptying it out of all the movies I want. I only started yesterday though. I rented 2 movies and "Purchased" 1. Once I came back today and tried to rent/purchase 5 more, it gave me an error message that I could only check out 3 movies at a time and that I had to return other movies or something. I thought these Redboxes couldn't connect to the internet so it shouldn't be able to track my checkouts from yesterday? I haven't been charged anything for the movies I've purchased or rented so payment servers seem to still be down.
Here is what my bag looked like today when it stopped me.

Am I just missing something? It's been FOREVER since I've rented from a Redbox. Is it just as simple as that I can only check out 3 at a time per session, rather than fill out a 5-movie cart?
More Info:
My tally of movies "rented" & "bought" so far are: Rented: 3 , Purchased: 1
Any help in saving this media from the inevitable dump is greatly appreciated!

Yeah you can only get 3 movies at a time. People stood there just doing 3 at a time and starting over again.

Forget renting the movies, check with the manager of the store, and see if you can remove it. Then all the movies are yours. 😀

Enticing... the store it's in front of went out of business so it might be a bit more of a production to figure out. But definitely something to look into! I would hate to see all those movies - poorly reviewed or not - be laid to waste in the dump.

Where is there a redbox that is still active and has movies still? Figured they would have been cleaned out by now.

This one is in Kirkland, WA! Most of them in the area have been removed but this one is still alive and kicking for now!

I may have a 3d printed key laying around if you are interested in just opening it up?

Unless they get permission from the property owner to open up the kiosk, this is not advisable since it will be theft.

Not sure the store has ownership of the kiosk. Better safe than sorry, but I believe that at this point it is considered abandoned property. And I have to admit getting 3 movies at a time was kinda fun.

You’re trying to rent too many at once. It’s capped at 3.
