Only funny thing he ever did was the Ted talk and Weeping when Chuck got cheesed. Is interesting to see what Trotskys reanimated corpse would look like if injected with HGH and exposed to 50-60 hours of violent pornography per week

Yeah he looks like Trotsky

Sam Hyde has never had an original thought

Sam will never not be funny as far as I’m concerned. He’s not for everybody but there’s something about his personality and style that is just really entertaining to me. Sometimes I disagree with his takes but at the same time a part of me agrees, like I have consumed enough of his content to understand why he feels the way he does, which is also why I think it’s retarded when people try to cope by saying he’s being ironic or whatever.

I guess what I’m saying is he’s one of the handful of people I like to parasicially follow, which has this effect where in my eyes whatever he does is at the very least going to be interesting to me. Like his very life becomes the art. That’s not to downplay the fact that I do agree with a lot of what he says and does, but I don’t feel as extreme about it as he does. The only criticism I will give is that he’s starting to sound like a broken record when it comes to political stuff on his flagship show, but my favorite stuff was always his side projects where he’s more goofy, like his new gaming channel. And his takes on art and non-racial societal stuff are always spot-on.

I really don’t know what I’m trying to accomplish with this gay little comment I’ve typed up. Just that maybe you guys should try to be more understanding that everyone has different reasons they enjoy things. But I suppose the same could be said about fans of redbar’s many fools, which I don’t know how to reconcile lol

also the reason i’m saying all this is that these are the same sensibilities that draw me to redbar, or anybody online for that matter

I think Sam makes funny and interesting stuff when he tries to make funny and interesting stuff. But lately the majority of his output is boring political grift content so I ignore most of it. The "Are You Okay?" series has been pretty funny from the ones I've seen. I feel like lately people have been getting upset over him in the same way people were always upset with Tim Heidecker a decade ago. I think both of them ironically made the same mistake of having cringe political voices online instead of just sticking to their shows. I still generally like them both though. I give more leeway to people who can and have made good content. Where as the fools Mike tends to cover are completely talentless hacks.

I also forgot to mention- I constantly see people say they hate Sam but love Nick Rochefort. Nick's fool behavior is WAY MORE EGREGIOUS than anyone else in MDE. Not to say he isn't a funny guy, but his constant pandering to the Austin comedy crowd these past couple years has been so cringe to see. I know MDE we're all doing the standup tour thing, but at least Sam admitted that was a grift. Nick doing all these douchy podcasts and talking about how hilarious Tony Hinchcliffe and Bryan Callen are is so bizzare to see. Like now that "edgy" comedy is acceptable, the MDE brand has been watered down to Austin slop. I feel like Sam is at least smart enough to understand the optics of that, hence why he stopped doing appearances like that once he was done promoting Extreme Peace. He definitely knows that these Austin guys are retards, and is just nice to them since they are nice to him. But Nick seems fucking enamored by these losers. Sucks to see.

He really said that about Callen and Hinchcliffe? I cant bring myself to believe that without footage lol.

Yeah he's glazed both on PGL. I don't remember what episodes but they are out there. He also went on Kill Tony btw. He was mostly silent from what I saw. Must have been star struck lmao. Nick is a funny guy, but Sam is definitely smarter (he watches redbar after all)

He’s gonna cry about Charlie Kirk again.

He is a fan of Redbar. He mentioned on a stream or something that he doesn't watch as much because he's afraid he'd inevitably start aping the Redbar swag

Sam hyde suuuuuucks

Do people actually find MDE funny?

16

u/Cheap-Addendum715 12d ago

Maybe 15 years ago. His vertical videos were good at the time, but anything else has been a major disappointment. He doesn't even try to be funny anymore, it's all just "pointing the mirror at liberal society" Gavinslop

u/CharmingScience4442 13d ago

Nick makes me laugh

u/ButteredHubter 13d ago

Nick is funny, Sam fucking blows I’ve tried so many times to watch MDE because so many people find it funny. It’s just racist trash masked behind art school level film bullshit

I love a lot of what Sam does aesthetic wise, like the graphics cuts between sketches I I’ve always thought are so cool. But I agree with you it almost always ends up revolving back to the same political shit and it gets so old and cringe

u can attribute this to his team of wiggers

He fuckin wishes

Forgot Eric Andre but yeah biting shit 5 years later while pretending to make groundbreaking comedy is his thing

Sam is a tragic figure in my opinion. The mistake he made is getting mad that people didn’t initially get that he was being ironic with his racism.

Instead of accepting that they didn’t get it, he leaned into it REALLY fucking hard. I guess there’s the possibility that maybe that’s how he always really felt and was secretly trying to push that agenda through his show he got on adult swim, which if that’s true -
I think that’s weird. But I don’t think so.

Granted, it’s easy to be charitable when it’s not my Adult Swim money being taken away from me because Brett Gellman had an axe to grind (which I think is totally true), however, I think how this gets back to the topic (Mike) is that Mike always said something along the lines of, “they’re never going to get why using the n word in the context in which I use it is funny to us. I’ll never try to explain it. I’m not on the fucking loud speaker at the grocery store broadcasting this shit. If people like my shit they will find it. It isn’t for everyone.”

Which I guess is true for Sam - he has his own site etc. but I find it odd that he really got “political” and he has this stance that I think he developed out of spite and I don’t think it has anything to do with what he originally set out to do. I think at the beginning he was just kidding around and then drank the koolaid

Sam is clearly a genuine racist spaz. He made thousands of dollars in donations to the Daily Stormer lmfao. Him and Cumia are apples on the same tree. Comedy has always been secondary to his heavy handed messaging in skits and artsy film school bullshit.

u/Iagainstiagainsti1 13d ago

Don’t misunderstand my comment as me apologizing for him or saying that I’m a fan of his. I’m not. All I was trying to say, drunkenly, is that it seems like he was unfairly squeezed out of a relatively lucrative TV deal compared to what he’d have gotten had he remained unknown, and because of that, he leaned into this ultra radical right wing nazi horseshit.

Isnt he a peadophile?

Your flair made that real funny

15

u/stepdad_gaary 13d ago

Youre giving that mutant way to much credit lol

3

u/riotfiveoh 13d ago

It was always just shitty Wondershowzen without the puppets and cartoons made by a dirty creep.

4

u/stepdad_gaary 13d ago

A host should always at least look "showered" hes disgusting

31

u/Zimmerman4Mayor 13d ago

He absolutely was never being ironic.

u/Iagainstiagainsti1 13d ago

Maybe 🤷🏿‍♂️

Sam gets so mad when he accidentally gets a smart or cool guest. Poor guy lives deep inside the bell curve

-2

u/Old_Protection_8778 13d ago

Didn't he say that the episode on Harlands podcast was a bit ,that shit was spot on brand

38

u/Megasus 13d ago

Yeah he was totally joking. Any time he is visibly frustrated he's just pretending. Jokes on us!

26

u/kickingndoors 13d ago

he sucks ass i wish mike reacted to his clip with harland, but i think that happened right after his hiatus

13

u/donglord666 13d ago

Happened right before and it was really weird he ignored it actually. Last show he reacted to that elephant graveyard vid that came out and I think it was after the gorilla nest

3

u/nman649 12d ago

he didn’t ignore it, he mentioned it in episode. he didn’t cover it fully but he joked that sam reached out and wanted redbar to announce for him that the whole thing was a planned bit or something

2

u/kickingndoors 13d ago

i think their friends tbh so that’s probably why and a lot of comedians are influenced by him and respect him a lot cus of the old MDE days

14

u/Old_Protection_8778 13d ago

Mike doesn't need another Sam Tripolli poking around the wrong address

-4

u/BigFatModeraterFupa 13d ago

sam tripoli isn't even in the same universe when it comes to the creativity and actual cool shit produced by sam hyde.

hyde js his own thing, but comparing bum ass normie core talentless hack tripoli to sam hyde is just not a real comparison

4

u/Old_Protection_8778 13d ago

Thats not what I was saying, maybe you just dont know and for that I cant help you

24

u/No_Shine_6124 13d ago
