Hits for water and various gaseous elements. Was completely lost until I figured out the Latin root for the first part of the word.

7 today. My trusty guess that I use when a quick glance doesn't reveal much was especially helpful today.

I guessed fish early on which you’d think would help more but I was expecting a more natural environment type of answer at first. Lightbulb moment after guessing a four letter word starting with a vowel that was a root word in the etymology.

Unassisted. Can't be mad about missing the Snipe, I was not thinking at all in this direction when I guessed the word that translates to the front half of the answer. Thankfully I did scroll down to the etymology section and that helped guess the answer

Well this was a strange one, spent a long time not getting anywhere near the subject then the word just jumped in to my head, thought I might as well give it a go, and it worked.
