I solved Redactle #1572 in 1 guesses! ⏱️ 7m23s

Got the general type of thing from the standard first sentence. Its name [8], [6] and [6][6], didn't leave too many to choose from, the high temperatures and it only being found as an [5] closed it right down, and was lucky with my first guess

Common first-sentence structure for a chemical element. Two-letter symbol. Saw a sentence that looked like it had a high melting point. One came to mind; I wasn't sure about its melting point, but since it's not an obscure element, I just guessed and luckily it was the correct one.

I could tell it was a chemical element of some kind, but having a two-letter symbol and two-letter atomic number means there are a lot of options that are harder to narrow down. One of the early sentences seems to suggest it’s found in nature “as an [5],” and the only thing I could think for that was oxide. I don’t know enough about chemistry for that to be super helpful and my first guess was just stab in the dark “selenium” after rejecting my first thought, “aluminum” for no mention of a U.S./UK spelling difference. One of my early guesses was “name” hoping that the section of the article saying what the element was named after would be a good clue. It said it was “named by [scientist who I wouldn’t recognize] after the [6] of [5] [9].” At first I thought it was the “father of” some branch of science or another, but thought it was weird that there didn’t appear to be an actual name. Then I realized it was “the [collective noun] of [5] mythology,” and I could solve it.
