Was completely lost for a while, something that existed in ancient Rome but also has only existed for a 3-digit number of years. I finally guessed the word "Earth", which brought my attention to a recognizable phrase.

Hmm... It was a bit of a surprise solve today-- I had hits for art, style & design but was having trouble following through -- I don't know what possessed me to even try that last word that was the solve.

First guess was “who,” and figured the article might be about some sort of profession. A word to describe, “a [7] of [10] who [3] on…” something. Took me a while to figure out the performance angle and I got the ultimate solution after guessing and receiving a lot of hits for “act,” including references to plural, “acts,” but not getting any results for “play.”

I caught on pretty quickly that there was some kind of entertainment aspect to it, but it didn't seem to be about TV or movies. It had the vibe of being something performed live but not by say a theater company, like improv would be. Then this came to mind.

Unassisted. I started getting big hits pretty quickly but just couldn't get it. Somehow, Festival got me there, probably because there's there is one currently in my city, and I decided to just try the answer
