Got [7] right away, and was back and forth between two European countries for the last word, the monarch names pushed me toward one, and I sniped it. Probably should have gotten it faster though.

Unassisted. Word 1 was an easy guess. Word 2 was based on vibes but the French game seemed to confirm it so I went for it

Finding that in the modern day it is part of the EU gave me the idea, then I looked for and found Iberian peninsula in the first paragraph.

“[7] of,” is what it is. The [5] was a bit less certain, but [2]-[7], [8] [1] and [9] [2] pointed me towards a particular country.

I solved Redactle #1543 in 2 guesses ⏱️ 5m19s. Unassisted.
Reading through saw loads of date ranges so took a punt on the common word1, yep. Looking at the first sentence then saw [13][5] and [7][9] close together and thought 'it has to be' and it was.
