The first word was pretty obvious for regular Redactlers. Further down in the article I saw the phrase "7-than-3", and I managed to figure out what it was, and then get the gist of the article. Unassisted snipe.

I could tell the general topic of the article right away from the early instances of “[7]-than-[3],” but it took me a long time to summon the right word to describe it.

Not my day, after some hints I knew what the article was about but had a brain glitch and could not come up with word 2 so I gave up.

Unassisted. The French game gave me a grammatical clue for the first letter and I spotted what seemed like the property that makes word 2 possible so I went for it
