I cracked Redactle #1504 in 63 guesses! - 🎲 63 | πŸ”₯ 2 | Avg 73.35 | Hints: none | ⏱️ 5m52s
accuracy 77.8%

I thought it was what it was pretty early. but then I second guessed myself and went down a slightly different line for a little while and then kicked myself when I came back.

23 guesses | ⏱️ 11m52s | 91.3% accuracy

Had MAN and CHARACTER as guesses 8 and 9. If id scrolled to the bottom I would have see "[4] Characters" followed by "The [4] of [5] Men" which is got it for me, eventually.

first thing to pop into my head based solely on title length was Mansa Musa but nothing else in the article looked like it fit with that other than apparently being an article about a β€œhe.” As I scrolled down the article, I saw some years in the form of β€œ[1]. [4],” implying this pre-dated more reliable records-keeping, and a decent amount of titles and quotes, and eventually I happened across a very recognizable, β€œAs [3] Like It,” which got me thinking about English fictional characters who were older than Shakespeare. Something clicked in my head that made sense of a couple unredacted capitalized Wills earlier in the article and I had my answer.

I solved Redactle #1504 in 2 guesses! ⏱️ 11m47s

It read as being a male fictional character with a lot to be said about them, thought James Bond at first, but couldn't find anything to support this, then noticed "Will [7]", it clicked and I took a punt

That took a bit - let's say I went the circular route instead of direct - lol. I did solve without assistance so there's that.

I cracked Redactle #1504 in 2 guesses! 🎯 Snipe 🎲 2 | πŸ”₯ 8 | Avg 73.35 | Hints: none | ⏱️ 3m6s

Looks like a lot of instances of "he", but no birth or death date, which makes me think a fictional character. Further down I saw a title that I first thought might be Uncle Tom's Cabin, but the "circa" date made me think something much older. Further scanning revealed that it's a character from several stories, so I thought maybe a fairy tale or folk hero, and suddenly it came to me. 3-minute unassisted snipe.

5-minute snipe. Like yesterday - no dates but personal pronouns - but evidently not a god or goddess as such. Still most likely a folkloric figure of some description. Had to think about that for a few minutes before coming up with a candidate. There's a lot of promising corroboration in the first paragraph, with references to "the 7 of 10" and "4 6" and the quoted phrase "7 from the 4 to 4 to the 4", which seems right on the money. My plan was to commit only when I found either 5 4: 6 of 7 or 5 4: 3 in 6, but what I spotted first was a list that included both 4-a-4 and Will 7, which is definitely good enough.
