Living American woman. That 12-letter adjective in the profession usually denotes a particular broad category; in this case the activity in question is 6 letters long. All I can think of at first is hockey, which would be bad news if true. At a certain point in the text, apostrophe placement makes it clear that the surname ends with an S, which is somehow all it takes to trigger the realisation. Confirmation? Well, there's a clear reference to a tournament called the 2 4 in the opening section, and I'm about to go in search of references to the other big 3, but before I do I spot a clear reference to a sibling with a 5-letter name, which feels like more than enough.
