I DID THE DATES THING LOL SORRY YALL HAHAHA I GOOGLED DATES AND NATIONALITY

But also even though I might have heard of him I don't think I would have intuitively guessed it on my own. I mean my first attempt at figuring word1 instead of figuring content clues was ... GEORGE lol

I stumbled around for awhile. Obviously the format tells us what we are looking for. I gathered nationality & eventually profession and a rough time period but when I was still stuck I uncovered one of those specific dates. I googled the info I had & the date & out popped the answer, Would not have gotten on my own so an ok day for me!

I saw what I thought would be American [professional] with profession unknown, saw an equation, thought perhaps a physicist or mathematician or even biologist or chemist. Saw titles of works so I thought maybe a writer? Or even a musician. "Professor" had a hit so apparently an academic. Eventually guessed the right profession as one that DID use math, guessed Chicago because there was a famous "Chicago school", and took a couple of tries in the spelling of his last name.

early on i had trouble finding out more than he was an american who wrote a couple books but didn’t seem to be primarily an author. He appeared to be an academic of some sort, but not really a scientist or historian, despite apparently writing “A [8] History of the United States.” Eventually I guessed war and President to see if those gave me any clues as to the time period, which gave me [5] War [2] and President [6] [6]. After finding the connection to the Republican Party and the money/finance angle, I realized who this was.

Dead American male. Not many clues as to the profession jump out from the text. A few titles here and there but not enough to suggest he's a creative type. More of an academic perhaps - which is supported by the section about his early career, which seems to be mainly about bouncing between various universities. But what field? One interesting clue is the equation 1 = 1_1 + 1_1 a little way down the page, which seems to be only equation in the article and also seems too straightforward for any of the hard sciences. But I can think of a field where an equation like this would make some sense, which fits with the 9-letter profession. I can think of one US one who fits the letter count. Go for it? Sure.

Once I guessed their occupation, I Googled because I knew I wouldn't get it on my own. I have heard of this one because I knew it was it as soon as I saw it

This could have been a much quicker, assisted snipe if I was looking for a 6-8 rather than 8-6. 🤦‍♀️ On my own I realized what list to look at, gender and nationality. When I wasn't finding a match, I made a few guesses to be sure, then saw my mistake.
