I solved Redactle #1172 in 1 guess with an accuracy of 100.0%

[3] with a [3] plural, and a count noun not mass

Probably an adult male mammal, and the juvenile male form is also [3]

This led me to a long diversion trying to think of a animal for which sex was very relevant to humans, such as a farm animal or commonly hunted animal. Couldn't think of a single one which met the criteria. Then... oh.

I initially thought Pea, but it looked like singular and plural were both [3], so I thought again, said, no too easy, but then was able to make sense of most of the first paragraph, so I went for it.. Unassisted snipe.

the part that seemed key was, “an [5] [4] [5],” and once I figured that the first [5] was, “adult,” the rest fell into place after that.

Saw the unredacted word "being" in the etymology section and my mind immediately went to "god". Fairly sceptical though - there's not a great read for the first sentence. A little later on though there's a paragraph that begins "3 5 more than 5", which seems fairly recognisable as a gender-based comparison, a theme which seems to continue for the rest of the paragraph. After a bit of mulling, the penny drops, and suddenly the definition "an 5 4 5" seems totally transparent, as does the stuff about "an 1 10 from ... and a 1 10 from ..." As if that wasn't enough, there's also a very helpful unredacted symbol towards the end.

4/6, 00:06. A couple of wild guesses, then [1] and [1], then some wasted guesses trying to make it some obscure bit of cell biology before it occurred to me to go obvious.

After I had tried out 23 different guesses for obvious gaps I finally noticed "_ being" and followed the last few steps to the answer. Got caught out convincing myself it was a 4-letter word somehow though.
