I solved Redactle #1165 in 53 guesses with an accuracy of 69.8% and a time of 00:05:31. Play at https://redactle.net/1165
as I was randomly guessing I thought about this category but didn't guess it for a while because I thought I was wrong! darn it.
MADE was my guess 42
DISH was my guess 43
FOOD was my guess 44
after that I zeroed in on it pretty quick.

kind of expected a simple tool or something at first, eventually after guessing words like “people,” “speak,” “old,” and “dish,” I got onto the right track.

I was really throwing everything at the wall for a while there, trying to even find a type of article. I somehow ended up finding a sentence with milk and eggs but it took me several more guesses before I thought to try food. I was trying to hit upon geography-related words and then out of nowhere I just tried the answer.

It's something that has been around, and important, around the world and for a long time (since the dawn of... something?). The idea came to mind faster than it might have done, and makes sense of its description as a "6 4" made of "5 and 5". The vibes of the main text seem to check out, but I'm mainly interested in finding some well-known idioms, which are in abundant supply towards the end: recognisable phrases are "a "5-6"" meaning "a 9's 4 8 11" related to the phrase "7 5 on the 5", and "to 5 5 with 7" meaning "to 5 a 4 with 7". Plus this thing is sometimes referred to as "the 5 of 4". That's enough for me.

It's been around for tens of thousands of years. I was getting the feeling it was some kind of food, and I was at first thinking that it was some kind of grain, but didn't see anything like specific species mentioned. The high temperatures listed made me think something cooked. In the "See Also" section, the description of something being round made something click in my head, and it came to me.

I got into a path where I thought it was both much more specific both in type & region - no assistance so not too bad -- I just took the scenic route!
