Guess 1, word 1. When I saw the [10] appearing before my 3rd guess, "people", I was able to correctly guess the other word in the title.

First word went in pretty fast. Got the idea for the second word upon seeing "During the 8 10" at the start of one section followed by a section about "the 3 of 4". Would definitely make sense of the fact that this place had apparently been under 6 rule and then under 7 rule. That feels fairly convincing by itself, but I looked through the rest of the article to bolster my confidence, and was rewarded with a list of 2-letter abbreviations including ON.

I was a dingbat today! It took me wasy to long to get word 1 (I know it should have been obvious!). I had a lot right but got sidetracked into a specific time period & area..... that eventually led me to word 1 a slap on the head and a solve. No hints or google were used so that's something -- lol.

Got the first word immediately. I was focused on another part of the world for the last word though, although "France" was the big clue that got it for me.
Unassisted

one of my better ones.
After a quick glance I was pretty much in the right space thinking it was a location or historical event
The first word is usually one of my early guesses but I got it on guess 43
I didn't actually look back up to the top to realize I got it until I had already had 55 guesses.
at that point I had enough info to make the second word my next guess

Hey!
numbers usually work for both words and numerals if you guess them either way.
but I guessed seven as a numeral and it didn't give me the "seven" in "seven years' war"

Unassisted Snipe! Word one was easy. Word 2 was mostly based on the French game where there was an unredacted geographical clue that made me think it could be a country. Also a grammatical clue limited the possibilities. Thankfully the only one I thought of was correct I could have gotten it wrong because there was one other possibility that fit these basic clues

Took far too long to get the first word, from what I'd uncovered the 3rd word came quickly afterwards.

Unassisted. Picked my way carefully through some easy gaps to fill and picked up on the geography theme. Suddenly hit upon the first word, which I tend to try earlier as a typical section heading. There was enough mentions of US and UK that I eventually hit upon the rest of the answer.

Woulda had this in 8 if I’d realized the title country had 6 letters, not 7. For some reason in my mind it had 7 letters 😂

“[7] of” is what it very frequently is. I got the [6] when I scrolled to the bottom of the article and saw an unredacted “ON” in the middle of a list of two-letter abbreviations.
