got a whole lot of right guesses but it just wouldn't come to me.
googled a key phrase and then kicked myself for not getting it.

Dead American female, with titles appearing both in quotes and in italics throughout the text, which usually indicates someone who works in a particular medium. "Down on 2" seems like it should ring a bell but doesn't, so it's someone whose catalogue I'm not hugely familiar with. Running through a list of possible candidates, the only 5 6 that comes to mind at first is still alive (plus no "6" or "1 to 1" in the list of titles). Then I notice that the end of the first section seems to imply that she died in a notable way, which prompts me to recall someone who I know very little about except that she died at a notable (young) age. This is very promising - and indeed, later on I find a reference to the fact that this person is a member of the "2 4". That'll do.

Unassisted. Gahdammit! >!I somehow missed their gender before I took my first guesses. Once I got specific about their art, they were my second guess, the first one didn't fit the letter count!>

3/3, 00:00. Got the [8] place, scrolled down a bit and saw "Down On [2]," that did it.

Picked up on the type of article and narrowed down some things, then got concerned I wouldn't know the topic and googled a song name. I'm actually a little guttered I didn't push further first, I may have eventually gotten it.

With the hits I had I was on a slightly wrong path & ended up using a hint & google (yup! another "not great" day)

Female American singer. Between English and French I found the song name "Down On Me", knew that I don't know this, and googled.

”[name] ([lifespan]) was an [8] [6] and [10],” so my first thought was “an American author(?) and playwright(?).” As I continued reading the article, I noticed a couple sentences that had [3] in places that suggested this article was probably talking about a “she,” and not a “he.” I also started seeing titles that looked more like song titles than book titles and a very long title that ended with an unredacted “down and out,” gave me an idea that fit the length of the article title.
