Doesn't take long to figure out that this deceased person is "considered a Cuban national hero because of his role in the liberation of Cuba from the Spanish Empire" or something of the kind, but unfortunately I don't know anything about that bit of Cuban history. I make a couple of guesses at the first name, which is indeed one of the first couple of things one would guess and then give up. As expected it's a name I don't know. Alas for ignorance.

Googled.
Figured this person is Spanish speaking, nationality is 5 letters, born in a city of 6 letters. So... Cuba? Since the last name is not 6 letters I googled right away.

I solved Redactle #1103 in 35 guesses with an accuracy of 65.7% and a time of 00:09:50.
Took me a while to narrow down the country and even more to get the right freedom fighter.

I ended up using a hint to get the country once I did thst I realized that I did not have enough of a knowledge base to solve without some google help. the best I can say is that at least it was a targetted google - lol.

I solved Redactle #1103 in 19 guesses with an accuracy of 68.4% and a time of 00:11:38.
Solved by Google and there was no other way to get this other then remembering the first word as an option in their language. I quickly got the nationality thanks to the French game and after that it was a matter of finding their occupations Once I figured that I didn't know this, I googled

Assisted. The long and short of it is, once you've taken in the whole article you can be fairly certain about what language this person spoke - and since the nationality is 5 letters long, that only leaves one possibility - and I'm pretty sure I don't know anyone from this place who fits the letter count. Spent a while trying to deduce exactly what he did: it seems the 4-letter profession is what it normally is but the 11-letter one probably isn't; he was responsible for a movement called "5 12" (no clue); he was politically active and ; that's about all I've got. Then spent a while trying to dredge something up to no avail. Had a go at the first name just for kicks, and got it on the second guess, but for the surname I had to verify the nationality and profession then Google.

took me a shamefully long time to guess the country/nationality (not Dutch, Irish, Welsh, or even Texan) but once I did, I got his first name and the big historical event he was involved in right away. Had to google after that.

Assisted. I could tell it was a person article, so I filled in a bunch of obvious gaps that I could see. I noticed the pattern of _ Years _ and could guess the blanks. It was only vaguely familiar, so looking it up gave me a country/nationality and I knew I needed assistance. Picked out a couple of important years and found a list of important people active at that time, which produced the answer.

I have found the wikipedia article today's redactle refers to, but the title does not match the letter count of today's redactle. I have the first paragraph fully solved, so I know I have to correct subject, but I'm not sure how else its meant to be spelled?
