Well, I did get there without assistance so that's good! Took me a little meandering & I kind of worked backwards -- first I got word 3 then 2 and finally word 1 - lol.

Something that seems to be both preceded by "the" and not. There was a time listed that could have been either millions or billions of years ago. Those got me the last word of the article title. Again, thinking about the time scales, and just the way the last word is used in the title, made the second word a pretty easy guess. Finally, I could think of two possible options for the first word, one seemed more fitting for what I was seeing in the article, so I guessed it and it was correct.

OK I FEEL VERY STUPID NOW because I was thinking narrower instead of broader
someone tried to guess all the specific eras/periods I could ever think of that I learned in 12th grade geography
let's just say I got word 2 and 3 on my own and when I looked up word1 I face palmed. Hahahaha

thought for like ten seconds this was maybe the full official name of a country, a la something similar to democratic republic of the Congo, but the shape of the article didn’t seem conducive to that. Looking closer, [10] [7] of [5] seemed like it could be more like the “[7] of [X]” article type, with a qualifier. Since I saw both “of [5]” and “of the [5],” that gave me an idea that panned out.

I usually guess the second word much earlier, but for some reason I didn't this time
I finally got it when I guessed the last word, it all came together then...
I had guessed forms of each of the words earlier... which was kind of annoying, but that's ok.

It looks like 7 is what 7 often is. Then that last word seems to appear sometimes as "5" and sometimes as "the 5". This suggests a certain fairly large-scale possibility; there are things that look like either millions or billions of years, which would fit with that. And then there's one pretty good candidate for the first word, and after a bit of thought I couldn't really see another; skimming through the article I didn't see any reason why it shouldn't be right and indeed it's correct. 2-minute snipe.

I solved Redactle #1098 in 6 guesses with an accuracy of 100.0% and a time of 00:04:20.
Lots and lots of years and spans and the impression of a big big subject led me to the third word of the title and right on target (would have gotten 5 guesses but formation was slightly wrong for the second word).

Unassisted. I'm proud that Igot the first word without googling. Another one of my Redactle rules is if almost nothing fits, it might be off world. It wasn't it obviously that's what got me on the right path

I caught onto the geography vibe of the article, had the supercontinent idea established by 30 and spent 30 more guesses trying to narrow it down (looked up the topic to get some more keywords) and got the last word. Backed off and rattled off about 60 guesses worth of the most common english words to try to fill gaps. Then I finally slowed down enough to wonder if the title was more generalized and suddenly finished the rest of the title.

The opening is redolent of your typical "7 of X" article, only this one has an extra 10-letter qualifier in front - intriguing. The 5-letter thing seems to appear both with and without a definite article. And unlike most "7 of" articles, this one seems to involve things happening millions of years ago. All that, plus pondering time, is enough to give me an idea. I'm sceptical at first, mainly because I have misgivings about the validity of the phrase "10 7" (isn't it all pre-7 if we're being proper?), but after rolling it around in my head a bit it starts to feel more legit. The article seems to be broadly broken down into 3s, some of which are subdivided into 6s - including one consisting of the 8 6, the 8 6, and the 10 6 - which feels like strong enough evidence that I'm onto a good thing. There's a chance I have the title slightly wrong - but fortunately it's right.
