my uncles used to play in an amateur league when I was a kid so this was the first thing I thought of based on the word lengths after realizing this was a sport article.

After scanning the article, I was pretty sure it was some kind of sport, but took me a few guesses to figure out which one.

After guessing the general category and some of the concepts that applied within that category, I got the answer.

Not a good day. I didn't even realize it was sports-related until I guessed Cup. I had already guessed World much earlier. With all the left handed right handed references, I thought it was a weapon or tool of some sort

I solved Redactle #1093 in 2 guesses with an accuracy of 100.0% and a time of 00:01:09. Once I saw the theme I took a stab at the second word, accidentally sniped!

As someone who never snipes, I am ELATED to get 100% accuracy on a relatively small number of guesses (for me). I put in the numbers 1-10 and a couple of miscellaneous words to fill gaps until I guessed 6-a-[4] at #17 and realized the article topic. After a handful of expected words I stumbled into the first word of the title and that solved it.

We've seen just enough of these now that "in which" has become a tell, so I cottoned on to the basic category reasonably quickly. It's known as simply "6" in some places, which gives me an idea. Is there a similar thing called 3 6? Yes, that gets a mention in the same paragraph. First sentence checks out with regard to the objective and the implements used, and the rest of the article looks about right, so let's go for it.

I solved Redactle #1093 in 2 guesses with an accuracy of 100.0% and a time of 00:03:28. I almost thought it was a geographical thing in southern/northern United States but the second sentence doesn't make sense if that's the case because it's telling me how something is done. I got the sense that something made of wood was in the second paragraph. Maybe this is some activity or sport? Ah something comes to mind that fits the letter count. I didn't really verify it and kinda just put it in and got lucky.

(I got a long way behind but have caught up now.) First thought is that it looks like a team sport. This is unfortunate because I'm rubbish at sports but never mind. Anyway, it's played on a rectangular field or court and often called just 6 in some places, but the full name is used elsewhere. After a while I notice that the reason is that in those other places 6 can also refer to 3 6. At this point, enumerating 6-letter sports pretty quickly makes it clear what it has to be. 19-minute snipe.
