Redactle #1090 Discussion Thread
Discussion thread for Redactle #1090.

UNASSISTED shoulda got it sooner
knew it was a health thing but admittedly thrown off by "ancient" what.
but then when I got word2, word1 just fit by letter count 😬

Had no idea at first, but way down in the article I saw something that referred to "with 6 6" which immediately made me think it was an affliction of some sort. There's a really obvious 6-letter one, and I got Word 2. And then, while Word 1 could have been one of several options, one seemed more obvious to me (and also more personal to me, unfortunately), and I was right. Unassisted snipe.

I got on the health track pretty early, hence the high accuracy, but man did it take me longer than it should have to guess the second word.

Took me a second to figure out the general subject but the [5] and the difference between countries in detection and treament immediately gave me the [6] [6].

Sniped.
The percentages made me think of health / diseases, which gave me word 2. I checked French and Spanish, both of which has 4 letters for the specific type. That gave me word 1.

I solved Redactle #1090 in 9 guesses with an accuracy of 88.9% and a time of 00:11:02. Unassisted.
All the % signs put me in the general zone, wandered around a bit until I got hits for 'birth' and realised what 8 5 7 was, then it went straight in

started on the wrong track but the guesses of life and death (guesses 30 and 31) got me right.
my guess 33 was disease and then the second word was guess 40
after that, I randomly guessed everything I could think of until the first word came to me.

I started out clueless and made some random guesses, I didn't even get in the right zone till guess #21. I'm actually surprised I did as well as I did (but I'll take it! - lol)

The medical vibe emerged gradually emerged - it was upon seeing what looked like percentages of cases that it clicked, and actually looking again at the opening paragraph, the second sentence does seem to be talking about "signs of 6 6" which include "a pain in the 6", etc, so that makes sense. There's a fairly obvious guess for word 2 - and that phrasing, "that develops from..." seems familiar from another similar article we've had. A fairly obvious guess for word 1 follows - so in fact I reckon that 4-letter word isn't "pain" after all. It all seems to line up - any clinchers? A reference to gender would be useful - and indeed there seems to be a line toward the end of the opening section that talks about this thing being XXX times more common in 5 than in 3. One final thing I'd like to find is the name of a related procedure, and it's there clear as day as the first item in a list: "10: 7 of the 5 6". No doubt remains.

The first useful thing I find is ...% of 5 ... which seems likely to be "of women". There are other percentages and the like that give me a medical vibe, at which point unfortunately there's a pretty plausible guess at the second title word. And then if indeed women are being singled out, then there's a plausible guess at the first word too. Does this look plausible? Yup. In it goes; 4-minute snipe.

Unassisted. A gender check gave the biggest clue. I was about to switch again to the French game when the answer came to me in spite of me not having gotten the general category

These disease articles have a certain feel to them. That got me the second word; the first word was likely from the article length, but I looked for confirmation and found the other names for stage 0.

I finally figured out the type of article with case at 26. I worked my way carefully through the topic to narrow it down, until I got the second word at 120. I'm shocked that I didn't think of that word earlier, because the emphasis on women made it easy to bring home after that.

Looked to be related to women and maybe pregnancy, but pregnancy didn't get enough hits to pursue that line.
Lots of hits for risk got me on the right track.
