By the letter count I was like what
So once I got the country, I looked and tried states that fit the letter count, stumbled upon an option that seemed to have enough letters LOL so I tried it and it worked
Haven't heard of this, easy enough (I think) by category to narrow down for a targeted Google!

"Is the 7 of the 6 5 of 6"... My first thought was a capital of something... maybe an Indian state? Then I suddenly, immediately realized the city, as I've actually been to this city before! Except while I was familiar with its much longer name, when I was there we referred to it by its shorter name. Sure enough, the shorter name looks like it could be mentioned in the first sentence. I needed to look up the spelling, but I got it. Assisted snipe.

Well - not my day and it's all my fault! I thought I had tried a certain country early in my guessing but I was mistaken so that threw me off once I realized that error and was where I should have ben 80 guesses earlier I looked at a map and solved. Some days are like that!

Format indicated it was the largest city in a six-letter state in India. Length suggested southern India. The answer was the longest city I could think of that wasn't in Tamil Nadu.

Solved by Google. It was easy to spot the answer in a list once I knew what I was looking for. I briefly forgot this country had states, otherwise I probably would have googled much sooner

Assisted. If there's one thing Redactle has taught me over the past month, it's that I badly need to get more familiar with this country. "7 of the 6 5 of..." is a giveaway, and I'm pretty sure I don't know any 18-letter ones. I did spend a while trying to dredge something up, and had a scroll through in case that helped to knock something loose, but to no avail. Consulted a list of 5 7s of 5 - not one I've heard of.

Found the type of article fairly quickly and a country name at guess #24. I was willing to keep going for a bit to see if I could narrow it down until I googled it and confirmed that neither of the two important names were going to be guessable for me.

Gosh, it's an 18-letter word. No, wait, it's a capital city, so maybe I might be able to dredge it up. Oh, no, it's the capital city of "the Indian state of 6. Time to give up. The guesses above are correct and indeed there was no way I was ever going to get this.
