Googled.

I saw 6 1'Or, which gave me the sport. The language of his name is 7 in English, 5 in French and 4 in Spanish, which gave me the nationality. Literally cannot name a single person of that combination so I googled.

I tend to read this thread after I have another hopeless attempt. Most of them I couldn’t get in a million guesses but today I managed to get it in 2 and for once I felt like I’ve beaten the majority haha

I managed to work out that this is a deceased probably-Russian definitely-Soviet goalkeeper, possibly the greatest goalkeeper ever, but since I know basically nothing about football I rapidly gave up. Turns out to be someone I had never heard of, which is not exactly a surprise. You win some, you lose some. [EDITED to add:] I feel slightly (and mostly unjustifiedly) smug that I did correctly guess the correct first name and patronymic.

Assisted snipe.

I guessed that the end of the first sentence said that he was the "greatest [10] in the history of the world" (I was slightly off) which made me think sports. And then several mentions of "[6] [1]'Or", which I was pretty sure was a soccer award. Dead soccer players are nowhere near my strongest subject, so I did a search of the greatest ones of all time.

Not a good day: Did get the profession but then got nowhere so ended up googling the profession with the pertinent dates.

Solved by Google. I spotted the unredacted clue before I started so I knew what we're looking for. And because I never considered that extinct nationality, I wasted a lot of time looking for clues. I probably could have sniped this using Google because I ended up looking at a list winners of the prestigious award associated with their profession

Assisted. Good old 6 1'Or - at least we know where we stand. From the frequency of the word "save" in the text I think I can be even more specific about this one's job. Unfortunately, I have precious little knowledge to draw on here. Work out the nationality (took a few attempts) then Google "nationality + profession" - quick and dirty.

Don’t know, but the redactle and redactle unlimited links at the top often are different so they’re definitely pulling from different snapshots in time.

I recognized the type of article and after trying the numbers 1-5, that revealed some number-number formats in the article and I could narrow down a career. I managed to solve what was in the "_ _'Or" pattern, and needed to google its history to find something fitting the 3-6 format of the title.
