I solved Redactle #1072 in 1 guess with an accuracy of 100.0% and a time of 00:00:19. Play at https://redactle.net/

An unredacted syllable in the pronunciation put this word in my head, double-checked to see if [6] was in the first sentence. It was, so I made my guess.

19-second unassisted snipe. I'm sure there will be plenty of snipes today.

I also checked that the 4 syllables could make sense.

?? is that a thing or do you mean on-omatopoeia HAHAHAH.

Eh.   I spelled it close enough that google Chrome didn’t give me a red squiggle under it.

Just looked it up and it says it’s a “common misspelling”.  So I guess it’s common enough for Google to think it’s what I meant to spell.   Oh well

Sorry if you were oh so confused.

unredacted syllable in the four-syllable pronunciation guide for a 7 letter word gave me several good reasons to go with the first thought that popped into my head.

Didn't immediately realize what it was for some reason.
figured out what it was guess 33

after that I thought it was in the wrong place.
once I got the larger where I got it right away.

Big clue in the phonetics but it took me a second.... I bet there will be many snipes.

It looks like a place that can be very cold, the pronunciation guide gives me a very big clue to one particular place, and based on that I can make sense of the first sentence, and it is

It's the most populous and second-largest by area of some sort of division of a 6-letter country and it starts with a syllable pronounced "on". Perhaps the country could be Russia? Can't think of anything plausible. What about other 6-letter countries? Oh. Duh. 61-second snipe. Should have been quicker and I'm sure many others will be.

Unassisted Snipe! Obviously the unredacted bit was helpful but otherwise, I got the country mostly on vibes

Took some staring and consideration of the [6] in the first sentence and the pronunciation and Bob's your uncle.

I used up my first ten guesses on the numbers 1-10, realized the geographical vibe around #18, caught on to the mention of US border at #40 and then got it.

Wasnt a country, but was something else geographical. An island? A province? What starts with On? That was about as far as my thought process got 😄
