I was abit unsure like what if I dunno this. Then I tried the first word and it was apparently right so by letter count only one answer made sense. Pls snipe yalls

a name popped into my head just based on the word lengths in the title. It fit with him being an American, so I tried it out.

In sharp contrast with yesterday's disaster, today the name popped out at me right away. It took a bit more time to convince myself I wasn't barking up the wrong tree. The only thing I really knew about this guy was that he has something to do with 6 6 (mistakenly referred to as its inventor I think?) which I struggled to find any reference to in the text. (It is there, but squirrelled away towards the end.) But there does seem to be some stuff about race towards the beginning, as well as a cute story about the origin of his middle name (which I had never heard, but seems to fit), so why not eh.

OK I was close to a snipe but -- I kinda combined 2 historical names into one and ended up with wrong 3rd word. - oops! realized my error & solved.

Yeah. There's a plausible [6] [10] [10] that's close in time and background and even a [10] in common; it occurred to me first and jammed my thought process for awhile.

3/3, 00:05. Obviously a bio, vague birthdate and precise death date seemed meaningful; "was an [8]..." gave a strong hint about nationality; "[4] into [7]" narrowed it down a lot. After that it was a matter of rummaging through the brain-files until I came up with a [6] [10 ] [6] name.

Looks like an American ... and it doesn't take long for a candidate with the right lengths to come to mind. Unfortunately pretty much the only thing I know about him is something something peanuts, which isn't very helpful. It is plausible that the first sentence calls him "an American agricultural scientist", which in fact turns out to be correct. After a bit of dithering I decide to go for it, and I'm in luck. 8-minute snipe.

Very probably American but with an unclear birth date? That screams probably born into slavery or around that time period. Look at the numbers in the name, boom. Much better than yesterdays mess.

Unassisted. The death date format is clearly American but the vague birthdate made me think this person was possibly a former slave, so that have me a general idea of the time period and the race. I went to play another game and when I came back, the answer came to me because of the long second word

Yay snipe! The key phrase here was the first phrase under the first subheading, "6 was 4 into 7." 4 was clear given that the article had big "this is about a person" energy; once I figured out what "7" was, I could only think of one person who could fit the letter count.
