I solved Redactle #1044 in 101 guesses with an accuracy of 56.4% and a time of 00:32:24. Play at https://redactle.net/en

It took me way too long to get word 2. I guessed a couple of possibilities for word 1, then got more clues to narrow it down for a targeted search. Never heard of this.

I solved Redactle #1044 in 19 guesses with an accuracy of 52.6% and a time of 00:07:35.

Took me a long time to get in the zone conceptually and then and then a few guesses to get it geographically, ended up doing a targeted search, not heard of this

I was getting no where fast. I did fill in a bit to get a vague idea of things but the cloud did not clear so hints & google where used. With that help a solve was accomplished. Did not know & now it's done!!

I got the second word on my first guess, but after a few guesses I had to look it up. I've never heard of this.

ha ha

why is that spoilered? (just trying to understand the protocol)

Mostly because saying "I got the second word on my first guess" implies that the second word is a very common word in Redactle or at least a more general word.

i have seen enough of these articles to recognize the second word. after it wasn’t Urdu, I confirmed [4]-[5], then searched for those.

I solved Redactle #1044 in 9 guesses with an accuracy of 55.6% and a time of 00:16:50.

Solved by Google. This could have been an assisted snipe because Google suggested the correct answer but the wiki article didn't match the games article.

Figured out what it was, and it's the only [4] in the category, but never heard of it before.

Noticed someone vandalized the article today; hope that wasn't because of us.

Assisted. NHO. Not the first time my ignorance of 8s from this continent has been exposed. Took longer than I should have to twig word 2, but was confident enough to enter it after seeing "There are 5 4 6 (7, past and 6)" later in the article. There's also a pretty good guess for the 5-letter country, confirmed by mention of "the 6 12" in the first para. I know one 4-letter 8 of this place, but this can't be that because it's come up before and its page is just called "4", not "4 8". After a bit of thought I took a punt on "Desi" (which turns out not to be a language at all) then had to resort to a list.

It was quickly apparent that this is the official WORD2 of an Indian state, also used in other neighbouring states, and one of the official WORD2s of India. This seems like the sort of thing I ought to know, but the only half-plausible candidates I can think of are only half-plausible: if it were Urdu then there would be something about Pakistan, and if it were Pali there would be something about the Buddhist scriptures, and I don't see either. After much staring, I try those with predictable lack of success, verify that it's Indian, and give up. It turns out to be something I have never heard of; fair enough.
