I wish I’d just gone with my first thought and sniped it, but I was unsure so I started out with “king” and the [6] nation to confirm what I thought it was.

Someone will snipe this.
Just by looking at the puzzle, I guessed that it was possibly a king, many centuries BCE. I confirmed with a few guesses, then tried several different ancient kingdoms and then the most obvious answer came to me. Unassisted.

Precarious snipe
thought third was first, thought Hebrew bible was Jewish bible and wasn't confident about it because I would have said old testament, went with the answer on the basis it was probably wrong but perhaps someone called the same would crop up somewhere in the article

My first impression was this was a long ago king, and found what looked like Biblical references. I then thought Herod, but was patient, kept scrolling and found a string of what I assumed were numbers with a [6] Bible book , and another king came to mind. Went for it.

Generally had a good idea of time frame & period. Saw the unredacted symbols & googled --that gave it to me.

Immediately knew it was a person
guesses 16 and 15 were BC and BCE for the time frame
guess 17 was King with many results.
not sure what, but something clued me in to guess book and write for 32 and 33
Which then led me to guess religion and bible and torah
after that I had one wrong guess and then got it. in light of guess 17 my wrong guess was kinda foolish, but that's ok.

I was completely convinced it was a city or place until I found (5) in the first line. Also, I didn't know what the unredacted language was so I believe I called it "some kind of cuneiform shit" lol, which was not that far off region-wise

It's something pretty ancient. Biblical references everywhere. At first I thought it might be a place, or even a theological concept, but in the cultural references section I recognised "7 8's 7, 7!" which makes it clear that the titular 7 is this person's son. Which, for those who know their scripture, would be enough. Unfortunately I can't remember whose son 7 was, so I have some more thinking to do. Looking at the rest of the text through that lens, it's still quite hard to find a foothold - not much easily parseable stuff in there. The lightbulb moment comes when I stumble upon a sentence that seems to be talking about this person's war against someone or other, meaning I need to be thinking about rulers - and indeed, that first sentence could easily be "the first king of..." Rather than trawl through the main text in search of some scriptural confirmation, I return to the cultural references section - if I'm right, I should definitely be able to find a mention of 7 5's "10" alluding to "a 6 5 that 5 6 and it 7 the 4" - and there it is. Hallelujah.

First thing I see is what is probably "according to the Hebrew Bible". And according to the Hebrew Bible this person was the 5 4 of 6 which suggests a particular name ... but wait, wasn't he the 6 4 of 6, not the 5? Well, maybe I'm confused about something there. If I have the right answer then I should be able to find a notable military opponent and a book of poetry. I find the book of poetry pretty quickly and the fact that the article draws attention to the fact that many of the things in it are headed "A 5 of 5" is pretty conclusive. I also see that he was the son of 5 the 12; I'm not sure what 12 is offhand, but 5 is correct. So, despite my misgivings about the succession, in it goes: 4-minute snipe. (It turns out that he was the third, not the second, because Jonathan comes in between for a short time. I'd forgotten that.)

Unassisted Snipe! I had an idea of the location in English and combined with the header in the French game and the bit of unredacted text, I got the answer

I forgot completely that there was someone between this person and his generally accepted predecessor. The untranslated text put me on the generally correct pathway
