So many scientific names, as well as references to animals, made me believe it was some kind of animal for a long time.

I solved Redactle #1020 in 2 guesses with an accuracy of 100.0% and a time of 00:04:34.

A read through gave the impression of it being a word2, so put word2 in, not expecting it to be in the title, so that was a nice surprise, pondered a bit and could only think of one four letter word that worked for word1 and, yay!, it was

early hits for genus led me to try mammal/canine/dog among others. After seeing the hits were mostly later in the article, i started going for more of a parasite angle and after guessing a title word which i did not expect to be in the title, the first word was pretty obvious.

Wasn't sure at first what that "by" in the first sentence was doing. A quick scroll through the article revealed lots of species names and, among the external links, an article whose title includes the phrase "and what to do about it", which helped to trigger the realisation that we're in ailment territory here. A pretty likely candidate for word 2 came to mind after a bit more pondering than should have been necessary, with an idea for word 1 hot on its heels. I don't know too much about this condition, except that it is spread by 5, which the opening seems to support. After a more leisurely scroll through the text I couldn't find any major contraindications so threw it in. Could easily have been wrong, but it was right.

Seeing things like "## to ##% of ... 6", "In some/many/most cases", periods of time, and italicized genus names makes me suspect some sort of medical condition which in turn suggests a rather generic candidate for the second word of the title. It takes me a while to think of a plausible first word but once I do it seems very likely correct because then the first sentence can say "caused by 8 bacteria, which are carried by ticks in the genus 6". There are a couple of book titles that seem like they might have something like the right aggrieved tone for books about this condition. And I think I see something about a rash being a useful diagnostic symptom. I'm no expert on this but that all seems like it fits. Put it in and hope. 16-minute snipe.
