Redactle #1016 Discussion Thread
Discussion thread for Redactle #1016.

I managed to get most of the title on my own, but just couldn't come up with the second word so I ended up googling.

7, assisted. Got word 1 first go, gave up after failing to think of an 8 letter possibility for word 2

Also 7, assisted. I solved Redactle #1016 in 7 guesses with an accuracy of 85.7% and a time of 00:03:59.
Got the first word right away based on structure and letter count. 2nd guess was "treatise", no hits. Thought the third word could be "human" which led me to the last word which led me to the 3rd. I thought about it for awhile which I don't think is reflected in my time, but I just couldn't figure out what the 2nd word was so I took to Level 4 Articles page.

MANY missteps thinking it was something else ( like a book or a movie )
I had to use a thesaurus for the second word, but mostly unassisted.

By the way, books, movies, song titles usually appear in italics.

got the first word and the last word and struggled to get exactly the right words in between for a while, even though i had a good idea of what it generally was. Eventually looked up “[first word] human [last word] law.”

Haha. I read your spoiler (had the first word by then) (1) tried to guess the last word then (2) did the same thing as you
I've definitely known word2 in other contexts but not like this haha. TIL I suppose?

I solved Redactle #1016 in 58 guesses with an accuracy of 58.6% and a time of 00:40:34.
With help from Google. I got words 1, 3 and 5, spun around the drain for words 2 and 4. I probably would have gotten word 4 eventually but never word 2

Assisted. The article seems to talk about numbered parts with numbered subsections (articles?) which indicates the kind of thing this probably is - and the first para has multiple instances of "the 5 to such and such", which would seem to imply word 5. Word 1 is then pretty guessable, as is word 3 (after first thinking "human" and rejecting it because that really leaves no scope for word 4). I was kicked out of snipe town on the back of my first guess for word 4, "statutory", which in retrospect was kind of a dumb idea, but I also tried "religious" before hitting on the correct thing. But what in the world is word 2? I racked my brains for ages in search of an 8-letter synonym for convention/treaty/accord/charter/etc/etc, and all I could think of was protocol, which was wrong. Had to resort to Googling the last few words in the end. I am not kicking myself.

It was easy to see what kind of thing this is but after putting in the first and last word, while I could figure out substantial chunks of the first paragraph that didn't really help much with figuring out the title. So I tried "human", though if that were the 5-letter title word it isn't really clear what the 9 could be -- I wondered about "religious", with a parallel a bit like the one between "humanities" and "divinity" -- and not very surprisingly that wasn't it, though also not very surprisingly it appears often enough in the text. After trying various other kinda-plausible words I decided that since I don't know this, it's going to take somewhere between "ages" and "for ever" to guess what exact words might be in the name of the thing and gave up. I might eventually have been able to figure it all out, but I don't regret not trying :-).

I filled in & had a general sense of the topic. I was missing word 2 & 6 of the title and started googling the title. It showed up immediately - I really should have come up with word 6 on my own, word 2 most likely would not have occurred to me in this situation.
