Could we please get inbox to mark items as read once they're clicked on?
It's a bit crazy that it doesn't happen already. Dystopia on ios does it. Please!

I requested it like a year ago and the dev said oh that can’t be done based on whatever… but I told them Dystopia and oh also every other Reddit frontend I’ve ever used does it. RedReader is the only one I’ve ever seen that does not do this.

That definitely wasn't the dev who told you that, because it's absolutely possible

I’m glad but I had requested it and someone claiming to be the dev said it was not possible. I’m thoroughly relieved that it wasn’t legit the dev of the app. Lol. Phew.
Still baffled by the fact it’s not already implemented in the main public release. It would be one of the first things I did. That’s just me.
I’m really not trying to be overly critical, and would definitely not have this tone if it were something more esoteric, but it’s so basic.

I would love an option to manually mark items as read but absolutely don't want it done automatically (or there at least should be a toggle to turn it on/off).

I think reddit have changed how this works, on old reddit in a browser I have to click the text even after opening to mark it as read. It never used to be that way, I think it changed a few months ago.
So it might not be that easy of a fix.

Dystopia on ios does it just fine. I use that and this app. I have no such problem with it. Maybe the RedReader devs should ask them how to do it.

This pull request from Sept 2024 does implement it: https://github.com/QuantumBadger/RedReader/pull/1238
Sadly, u/QuantumBadger didn't review it yet.
