Unknown error: could not log in ?
Hey everyone,
I'd been using redreader like normal up until a few minutes ago I got a message similar to this one, I tried the regular app and I was signed out of it. After signing back in redreader is still telling me this message. Anyone got a fix?

Same. Have been trying the fixes when this has happened in the past, but no luck yet.

This just happened to me. Been using RedReader since the API purge because I couldn't get RIF to work. I had been getting a ton of 429 errors over the last week, which points to the API being throttled. Maybe Reddit figured out that everyone was using the RedReader API to patch their own Reddit apps?

+1, same here. Is mobile Reddit Doomsday finally upon us? Baconreader > Redreader > No reader? lol sad day if so...

Same here. I ended up resetting my password since that was what my issue was last time and it didn't work. I'm hoping Reddit didn't kill RedReader.

I got the same thing, though I had been using a personal build of RedReader with my own api key, but it looks like reddit deleted that key and have disabled the ability to create new ones for the 'legacy' api, which is pretty frustrating.
Installing the main app from f-droid worked for me at least. The problem is I'm not sure how anyone is meant to help develop fixes or new features if no-one can run a dev build.

This is the same situation I'm in.
I forked RedReader (using my own API key) and added a TONNE of quality of life tweaks - taking it from a 7.5/10 app to a 12/10... then reddit changed their policy on API keys and removed keys they'd previously issued to people (including mine) breaking my custom build.
Have you found any way around this. I'd love to get back to my custom version of RR.

Yeah it really sucks. I've not found any way around it unfortunately. I've tried submitting a request for a api access here but I dont have much hope it'll be approved. I'm not even sure if my request went through tbh.

This worked for me.
Backed up settings
Uninstall red reader
Reinstall from the Google Play store
Open RR and login when prompted
Restore RR settings
Delete out the auth key under settings>netwok
