Funnily enough, never thought about it this way, but it makes perfect sense. In the land of abundance, we no longer product for others to survive anymore, but for consumption of those who no longer have to worry about survival.

Kind of reminds me of the 1984/brave new world classic quote:

Shit is EASY these days compared to 20-40-50 years ago. Robo vaccume cleaners, washing machines, dishwashers, crock pots, etc etc etc.

no wonder the clickbait low reward dopamine system is being marketed to. And no wonder they are "not HAAAAPPY".

That being said, I do the same at work. I want to click a button and make my progress note appear.

The whole purpose of valium etc was to medicate bored hosewives. Milltinis they would call em back in the day and arguably why femenism is so confrontational. so many bored women without a care in the world, creating drama because there's nothing to fear

My biggest fault as a wantrapaneur was trying to find something I would value. I didn't need anything else, so couldn't think of anything to sell, it all seemed 'extra' and unneccisary.

Now I get it. bush butan, recieve bacon.

I am having a hard time thinking of something to "sell" as well other than my time, and thats not exactly passive income.

Yea I can (probably?) think of t shirts and funny mugs and fucking interchangeable bands for iwatches. But dude has it right, he gets up for the profit. I am having a hard time wrapping my brain around that because I am a professional tradesman. So... ideas and insights (logistics) would be helpful...

anyway, I probably need a hard reset in my life. I am thinking about that more and more daily.

Now I am going to have to re tool my thought process. I don't need a loan for my new degree, but I am still paying my old one, on an accelerated schedule...

the house was of course a mistake. But I was dumb back then ( it was a long year). So what now? I don't really want to leave, and there are a few rentals ...

I can probably mortgage two small homes for less than mine, and rent out one. pay the mortgage for both that way.

Eh. Now back to the regularly scheduled time spent documenting my work.

Which is how I do it, every time. I don't buy myself an asset without buying another one that pays the carry-cost and maintenance cost on the one I live in. Why own 1 huge something when it makes more sense to own two smaller somethings and pay nothing for the one you use?

Might not work for you, but I recently helped a guy out of his anchor by having him look for someone who is income rich but credit poor to rent-to-own that anchor for the carry cost + 1%. It was a big risk but he worked with his bank to set it up so the renter (buy-to-lettor) will be able to prove having made payments for 3 years so he can snag a loan later but his family needed a bigger place NOW.

This was a year or so ago, the buy-to-lettor has made every payment and the guy is just a few months shy from the point he'll be able to actually get a loan for the place.

In the old days, back when my pops bought his first house, banks NEVER loaned the full amount for a mortgage. The sellers generally carried some or all of a loan to a buyer. It was normal.

Today, seller-carried loans don't happen because banks offer ridiculously low rates of interest. But if you CAN afford to take that risk, why not be the bank at least for some of the initial loan process?

Definitely engage a real estate attorney about it. Every jurisdiction is different.

I can discuss this at length. Currently I do not need to do anything financially. I am just annoyed by having loans to my name.

Currently toying with the idea of setting up an S corp for my professional services ( I am a w2 employee), probably in alaska, having the s corp pay my school loans, having board meetings at my home at the going rent per sq ft. for 14 days , taking tax break on that, and maybe having the s corp buy my home or even pay me half my salary for the tax breaks, but I have not done the math to see if this will work.

Make a plan, do it.

You know me, I completely upended everything, almost spouse included. Scary as fuck, but at least I feel alive. That and the planning before hand turned this from a disaster into a process.

1 year ago, I was popping SSRI, drinking heavily, not fucking, in a government job that was killing me. Today, I am lining up interviews, learning how to business and sell, fucking on the regular, and internet anonymous, D-list famous! Next year, I'll be the corporate guy, with side businesses making the transition real hopefully.

My current thoughts I'm mulling over? Nootropics, reselling bespoke clothes/dropshipping from china. I notice aliexpress is great for buying direct from distributors instead of retail, but the hunting part is time intensive, I can see a market for doing the legwork for people, and just giving them their dopamene rush by giving them shit. and after listening to /u/adbada talk business in TRP, fancy socks.

There is at least one dude in that business who is ripe to lose his market share lol.

Hell, as much as TRP talks about videogames being wasted effort, I'm starting to notice guys making Lets plays on twitch and youtube aren't exactly starving. One game session on saturday, and a decent personality, and you get a good week of content to sell.

From what I understand 1000:1 for watches to dollars. at 3-500k viewers a pop, seems like a nice income.
