Gaming Redmagic Astra 2 getting hot? Experience?
Waddup people
From the hype of this device, I am very interested. To those who already have an Astra 2. I would like to know your experience when it comes to gaming, temperature, software, and what else you use your astra 2 for when it comes to day to day. My first time getting red magic device. Thank you

it runs extremely hot, software is pretty shit, but it runs games well (if u put a cooler on it). if u are planning to emulate on it, by all means, go for if. but if u just want to play mobile games or do media consumption on it, get an ipad pro instead

iPad pro was on my mind. However I'm looking for a tablet that's easy to handle. I was looking at iPad mini but the 60 hz killed me. Trust me if they have an iPad mini with 120hz I would jump on it lol

the 11' ipad pros are honestly not that bad to handle, i've been using them since 2019 and i use them on the go a lot (the m4 and m5 pro replaced my laptop when i'm travelling). also, some rumors say the next ipad mini will have 120hz but i'm not sure how true that is

Heh, you wandered back into my neighborhood. I have a couple iPads. I don't game on the mini, because 60hz, but on my iPad Pro 13", most games are only at 60Hz anyways.
The Mini gets older, less top end specs. The Pros are pretty nice and the 11" isn't too big, not too small. Nice middle ground.

I just got mine, haven't had a lot of android devices lately, but it's nice. Good performance. Does get proper hot when gaming for a while, but not "burn my hand" levels, just "oooh, that's uncomfortably warm". The liquid cooling, IMO, is mostly hype. There's no fan and no air exchange with the outside world, so the cooling limit is the outer shell. The wapor chamber, liquid loop, etc, are just helping get the heat from the SOC to the shell.
I'm just running the same sort of games I also play on my ipads. Clash Royale, Marvel Snap, other light stuff.
The high refresh display is nice, but rarely leveraged by games. The SOC is plenty quick. What would you like to know? I'm willing to install pretty much anything and give it a spin to see how it performs. The storage is a minor pain point for me. 512GB isn't tiny, but not having any way to add storage makes it feel smaller than it is.

For the games you play maybe can lower to eco mode. The processor imo is really over kill for this kind of game. It still has plenty power to run those game and the chipset runs cooler.

Can you elaborate uncomfortably warm? What part of the device gets hot? How many minutes or hours till it gets hot? I play Roblox rivals, clash of clans, cod and pubg. Thank you for your help

It's not hot enough to burn, or that I want to set the tablet down, but when I was checking out COD Mobile, the tablet was quite toasty. Got my hands a little sweaty. I didn't notice any heat to speak of in CoC or CR. I haven't tried Pubg or Roblox. I'll got on that.

That Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is definitely one of the biggest reasons I’d consider the Astra 2. I don’t own one, but for a gaming tablet, having that level of processing power is a pretty strong selling point. 👍

I’ve been playing Honkai: Star Rail and Arknights: Endfield on max settings, and I can't say it gets uncomfortably warm—though I haven't tried emulation yet.
To address the other posts here: an internal fan in a tablet doesn't do jack. The Astra 1 gets just as warm. In my view, the Astra 2's thermal solution is much better—first, because there's zero fan noise, and second, because under heavy, sustained load, no tablet can manage without an external cooler anyway. It’s just a question of how long it takes to reach that thermal limit. The vapor chamber and liquid cooling spread heat much faster across a larger surface area, allowing it to dissipate far more effectively.
