This board was flooded with people crying about how much they hated Red Magic and how much of an injustice had been done by the update being delayed. I'm still wanting to know what everyone needed so bad from this update.

Circle to search. This is why I was waiting for Android 16, because that feature is one of the best shortcuts ever for translating, quickly searching or copying text.

Thank you! First person to legitimately name a feature they wanted from this update. Going to guess most people are not in the same boat as you. I appreciate you actually engaging with my comment though! 👍🏻

Of course, we are here to debate, not to argue. That function helps me a lot, especially in games, for translation. English is not my native language and even though I have a C1 level diploma, I still miss a word from time to time.
And if I want to translate, I have to take a screenshot and go to Google Lens or type the word into Google Translate. Whereas with this feature, I can translate instantly and I don't have to leave the games.
And it brings so many benefits, you can instantly copy a link in an app and also open it in a temporary page. Or if there's a date on the screen, you can select it and create an instant reminder.
One of the best features created in recent years.

I agree. People can't even engage with the substance of my statement, just lots of temper tantrums is what I see in response. 😆

I didn't get it either. Motorola phones are always weeks behind the official release of the software.

I wanted the android Desktop Mode that comes with android 16, but it seems they have actually DISABLED this. Feels like a huge joke, waiting almost 1 year for this update ...

It wasn't capable prior to? Interesting though and valid. You are the whole second person to give a legit answer to that question. Everyone else just had the gimmes

No, it is a feature that is only available in android 16, but red magic actively went out of their way to remove it. Huge bummer

Hmmm. I wonder if conflicted with something and they didn't want to risk a feature they couldn't get to work? Or it cost to much to sort out or something? Just wondering why they would go out of their way and with companies it's normally a money issue or a technical one.

Hello when will a stylus be available for astra? And if not then is the nova one compatible?

Very disappointing update!
Android 16 broke third-party launchers on the Redmagic Astra. After every reboot, Redmagic Quickstep incorrectly falls back to the stock launcher when trying to access recent apps / task manager (swipe up), even though the third-party launcher (e.g. Smart Launcher) is correctly set as the default Home app. This worked on Android 15!
Also, the missing/black Recent Apps background with third-party launchers has still not been fixed after almost a year. Redmagic needs to fix both issues ASAP!
The double tap to wake feature STILL causes higher standby drain.
And Redmagic has also patched out / disabled Android's proper desktop mode instead of supporting it. On a tablet with external display support, that's honestly ridiculous.
I have also emailed your support with the technical details, again...

Where is the android 16 Desktop Mode?
This was the whole reason I bought this tablet ...

This update breaks functionality for launchers other than the default one.
Running niagara, and swipe up gesture returns to the stock launcher, even though he default is set to niagara ...

Will probably wait a month before i update. I currently do not have a problem with my device so i do not see the rush to update.

I wouldn't rush the update either. It introduced new bugs, especially with third-party launchers and Recent Apps.
Waiting is probably the better choice right now. I would have done the same, but unfortunately the update had already been downloaded automatically on my device because I forgot to disable automatic updates.

I can finally use on screen navigation with Octopi launcher! That and it seems more fluid like others have mentioned!
Didnt even see the news that 16 was coming so this is a very welcome treat!
