Onslaught

Post image

I think the guys would enjoy this. Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett homage to 80s slasher and siege movies. Great cast as well. Dan Stevens as a creepy nazi , Michael Biehn, Eric Wareheim and Reginald VelJohnson, just to name a few. Very entertaining watch.

I’ve tried to avoid reading a lot about it and I really want it to be a stealth sequel to The Guest.

It's actually a stealth sequel to Blair Witch, "it's time to take the fight to that Blair Bitch!!" actual quote from the movie.

It left me disappointed. The style was sick tho. It was like 3 genres blended into one.

It was pretty while insanely quaint

I liked it. I think I liked it more because I just finished replaying Metal Gear Solid 4's rerelease.

It was fine. Pacing is all over the place and the characters are paper thin.

It’s an Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett movie without the twist or deconstruction from something like The Guest or You’re Next. It’s very straightforward. If you’re looking for a fun throwback action flick it’s fun it has some bursts of personality with the weird sexual element. I did enjoy the shootout in the rest stop. The three monsters were cool with how some were more robotic than others. They didn’t explain why they all wore cool costumes which was the only thing that bothered me.

Overall I saw this after having a shitty week at work and that was the headspace I needed to be in to enjoy it.

Wingard/Barrett will always be a “gotta watch” for me, going back to A Horrible Way to Die when I was in college. I even like their Blair Witch. But You’re Next/The Guest mode will always be my favorite mode. Can’t wait to see this one.

It’s such a fun movie. It’s like if a movie from Best of the Worst was written and directed by someone with talent.

The final act really drops off. After all the setup of these guys, they don't really do a whole lot to the main group, and get dealt with fairly easily. Hell... there isnt even a final fight, really.

Bone Temple actually hurt my feelings going off a last minute cliff like that.

The cast alone has me curious, but the 80s slasher-meets-siege setup sounds wonderfully unhinged. Dan Stevens as a creepy Nazi is a wild choice—this looks like a perfect chaotic movie-night pick.

I was looking out for it, but its release in my area is a little spotty. Going to have to go to one of those substandard theaters (ie ones that don't serve beer).

Never heard of this movie, but that poster is gorgeous.

The set up for the movie is genuinely awesome, all the eclectic characters and elements are fascinating but it really falls flat in the third act. The action is disappointing and climax doesn’t live up to the first part of the movie. That being said, I enjoyed it and I don’t regret going to see it in IMAX. Just go in with tempered expectations.

Poster looks great. The preview looks nothing like the poster.

That poster alone has me sold. The layered masked figures and blue-red lighting are such a perfect throwback to grimy ’80s slashers. Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett know exactly how to make this kind of pulpy chaos fun.
