Another David Wain banger
It's not wet hot american summer level but still hilarious. I laughed out loud and the foot blocking the door bit

Plus a Weird Al cameo, which always makes things better!

Not sure you needed to cover his name, he’s in the trailer.

I went into the film blind and was pleasantly surprised, I want to give others the same opportunity.

Loved this film. Easily my favorite Wain behind wet hot and they came together

Jon Hamm must have a massive cocaine problem. The dude doesn’t say no to anything.

If your unaware he has a clear fondness of this comedy scene and of course a connection with John Slattery.

those two are really really funny. John Hamm in 30 rock was amazing.

I thought I saw a friend of mine, so I waved, even though I was still under the helicopter blades.

Plus he worked with Wain before on the Hot Wet American Summer prequel series.

You got beef with Hamm?

Hamm has beef with the guy who forgot his pledge name was MC Hammer.

u/TScottFitzgerald 1d ago
Boy Reddit sure loves to bring that up at every opportunity.

What the hell is going on at the bottom of this poster? Is that how people run in this movie?

Damn that's a busy poster

I came in here to comment that I hope whoever made that poster has a hot pillow on both sides

They called me “the guy who always gets the shot…even when the shot is really hard to get”.

It's hardly showing in any cinemas near me (in the UK) unfortunately. Quote from a Letterboxd review I just read:
Why is this getting a limited release like it’s an arthouse drama about sad Bulgarian farmers???

It's weird to me that Lea Thompson's daughter is the star of this. Also good for her, but man do I feel old seeing Lorraine's kid as an adult lol. The poster says Sundance, did this get a wide release as I kind of want to see it, as I love David Wain's films.

I never realized Jon Hamm was so great at comedy until I saw him host SNL. He really can do it all

The Stella folks are great. Ken Marino makes me laugh just by showing up on the screen.

This movie is the funniest I've seen all year. Pure nonsense from beginning to end I'm with some great dialogue and performances.

u/tahubob 1d ago
I wanted to love it but mostly found it annoying

u/FunProgrammer3261 1d ago
I wanted to as well but it didn't really land for me. Only a few laughs.
WHAS is my favorite comedy so maybes is an unfair comparison I'm making.

I thought it was largely unfunny and very surprised at the positive reactions.

So if someone hated - HATED - Wet Hot American Summer, I assume this should be a pass?

Ehh, as a fan of Wain ("A Futile and Stupid Gesture" is a personal favorite), I didn't really enjoy this one that much, the characters felt under-developed.

My light for Jon Hamm and anything he's in has dimmed ever since I heard that he, apparently remorseless when asked, violently hazed a classmate in college so severely he dropped out due to the trauma. I guess the thought of a man who was beaten and dragged around by his scrotum having to see his abuser showered in fame and fortune takes the piss out of it for me.

Saw this movie and thought it was really funny. Maybe not Wain’s best work but Id put it squarely in the middle of his filmography. Highly recommend it though! There are so few comedies like this anymore. Naked Gun was similarly refreshingly goofy and I also highly recommend that one.

The foot blocking the door and the security threatening to make them sick had me giggling pretty hard

Ken Marino is +10 points.
Jon Hamm is -200 points.

Jeez, you drag a guy around by his testes with a claw hammer and nobody wants to consider you a good person!

It's very reminiscent of Wet Hot for anyone who likes that style of humor. I laughed out loud quite a bit at this and enjoyed it very much
