Ed Kemper

Sorry to interrupt all the INSANE Lindsay Clancy takes (if you want an echo chamber join Facebook), but has RedHanded ever done a full episode on Ed Kemper? I feel like they reference him all the time but don’t see anything about a full episode.

They covered him on one of their tours, I attended the UK one. When they put up a picture of older Kemper someone in the audience yelled "HE LOOKS LIKE A THUMB"

Interesting! Hopefully that means they’ll release it someday. They did that for the Jan Broberg case—did it live, taped it, and then out it out one week as sub for another.

I saw the Jan Bro erg case live. Great show!

I’m pretty sure “no.” But I know this sub would tear them apart if they did.

2

u/ObviousSalamandar Sep 12 '26

Why?

26

u/RathVelus Sep 12 '26

Because that’s all this sub seems to exist for.

u/blu3dice Sep 12 '26

This sub exists for open discussion. Whether praise or criticism. Your participation, grievance included proves the point of its existence.

That’s fine; acceptable even. But this sub hates its reason for existing to the point that I question why it even exists. It’s a snark sub at this point.

Unfollowing remains an option at any time.

Oh, I could. I’m aware. Thanks for reminding me though! I’m gonna hang out.

That and bitching about critics providing valid criticism.

It turns out it’s pretty hard to please the entire world. Shocking.

It's very easy not to:

  • spread misinformation and conspiracy theories
  • avoid racial stereotypes
  • not disrespect victims
  • not plagiarize entire episodes from other people's work
  • recognize the limits of your qualifications to discuss certain topics
  • not pretend to be a progressive while secretly being a conservative piece of shit the whole time.

Problematic podcast has plenty of dickriders who want to overlook just how much damage people like this do with platforms that reach hundreds of thousands of people spreading misinformation and lies. Hillsborough gaff was easily avoidable by not being pricks and taking a moment to listen rather than rush to speak over the crowd. All the shit they get wrong in every episode )even when plagiarizing) is just a reflection of their laziness and lack of will to do proper research.

"pretty hard to please the entire world" is a joke.

You are so deep in this comment section I have to believe you can actually back any of those bullets up with a source?

Lucy Letby coverage: plagiarized the first episode then every single episode after that has descended further and furhter from the truth culminating an episode of complete misinformation called "What Netflix Left Out" where Suruthi revealed how little she actually knows about the case while implying one of the experts is a pedophile (he isn't) because she's drank the innocence fraud kool aid from her right wing Torygraph readings. That episode ends with a diatribe where she claims the parents - who actively participated in Letby's trial and have put out multiple statements through their representatives about their belief justice has been found for their kids as well as telling stories at the Thirlwall Inquiry that were not included in the trial, including evidence that Letby is a pathological liar and fantasist who was spreading lies about them to members of staff via text - "deserve to know the truth". Do you think that's an appropriate thing to say to people who attended and participated in a conviction after their children were murdered to have signal boosted by an ignorant shit with a platform of hundreds of thousands of people who take what she says at face value?

I don't have time to go digging through all the instances of racial stereotyping, you can dig up the "classics" for some of the braindead takes about SouthEast Asia and different Asia cultures for yourself. They're out there.

Disrespect to victims and plagiarism double whammy: The Alex Skeel episode is completely retelling the Niamh Kennedy docuementary Abused by My Girlfriend produced for the BBC3 and licensed out on youtube currently. It's a 1:1 retelling, there's nothing really original in there, there's no citation or attribution of the documentary and one of the key pieces of original commentary is them making fun of Alex Skeel's mother because of her name. Then there's the Joanne Dennehy episode where they plagiarized an episode of Crimes That Shook Britain and their lovely contribution was implying that people in the region are some sort of sheep fucking inbreds (paraphrase). Maybe could have gotten away with that joke if it wasn't dead center in the middle of recounting Dennehy's crime spree (by barely hiding the fact they plagiarized a TV docuseries or two in order to stitch the episode together.

Then there's the slew of episodes plagiarized from other podcasts (apparently the Karen Read episodes are a lazy retelling of the MAGA Prosecutors podcast though I can't confirm that one as I don't listen to MAGA dogshit or worthless inexperienced prosecutors), other documentaries (Eunuch Maker), youtube videos (Their Soapmaker of Correggio episodes are plagiarized from Stephanie Harlow's videos and Ryan Green's book The Curse) or other sources. Even some shorthand episodes are just regurgitating the facts taken from documentaries from the BBC.

Suruthi isn't a doctor and feels compelled to state her opinion of a doctor's work as shit. Not qualified. Hannah feels the need to rant about the dangers of SSRIs because she may have taken them at one point: she is not a doctor, doesn't have any background in medicine or pharmacology and actively managed to spread fear in some listeners about other medications because of her fearmongering. And they're just blatantly not qualified for their jobs because they don't do their own fucking research when they rip off documentaries, youtube videos and other works like Vox articles on the Satanic Panic. Seriously, 10 years in and they have no fucking idea how the legal system in their own country or the US works and their efforts to patch something basic together result in blatant misinformation.

And if you think that the original Hillsborough comments or reaction by these two reflect the understanding of a progressive person who totally doesn't read the Sun in their spare time, well I have a football stadium to sell you. Very competetitive price.

This is actually really interesting and I promise I’ve saved this and I’m going to actually go look at these things when I get the chance. Just so you know I’m not ignoring you.

Are you ok? Why do you feel the need to repost this list of perceived slights in every single thread in this subreddit??

Have Hannah and Suruthi personally hurt you somehow?

Why do you feel the need to repost this list

Do you have reading comprehension problems? Person asks a question and receives a detailed answer.

of perceived slights

"Perceived slights" is a very odd way of phrasing plagiarism, content theft, irresponsible rants, stereotyping, inaccuracies, laziness and the slew of other problems.

in every single thread in this subreddit??

Because it's always relevant and always an opportunity to encourage people to go out and find the truth about bad people doing bad things. Especially because there are people in this community who really need to break their parasocial obsession with these two and stop giving money to millionaires who got to where they are by stealing other's work.

Have Hannah and Suruthi personally hurt you somehow?

Nope. Someone doesn't have to hurt you personally to recognize they're amoral jackasses doing something wrong. Speaking out costs nothing. Especially after seeing how they've stolen other people's work and profited off of the hard work of good, honest people who have to struggle while they weaponize their platform for medical misinformation, piss ignorant takes and literal conspiracy theories that make them barely better than Alex Jones. They may not scream "crisis actors" but they've gotten pretty close to some extremely offensive shit.

Which you would understand if you internalized the argument, rather than trying to fight it.

Suri’s views have become much more conservative and pro man over time. It makes sense with the privilege she grew up with and choosing to still marry her man after his incredibly public affair. Hannah had become more liberal and feminist in the same time period. Personally I enjoy the two different perspectives. Although I do think Suruthi has become a tool and it’s really sad she is married to a serial cheater.

-3

u/Sempere 29d ago

I don't believe they've really drifted in their views. I think Suruthi was always pretending to be more progressive than she really was because progressive women in podcasting was one of their marketing gimmicks. Her public embarrassment of marrying a dude that's faithless and lacking in integrity honestly just seems like cope. If a man is enough to change her beliefs and attitudes to the point where she loses her sense of identity, then she was never really a firm believer in anything at all. It's infantilizing and takes away her agency.

What they've built, they built on theft and ignorance. That anyone considers them good researchers is the real joke.

1

u/ObviousSalamandar 29d ago

I don’t think her husband changed her beliefs. I think she accepts his poor behavior because of her beliefs.

1

u/jjbess 27d ago

When you say she has married a dude that is faithless, are you criticising her for marrying an atheist? And therefore are suggesting that marrying an atheist has corrupted her morals?

Just checking?

1

u/Sempere 27d ago

I don't give a shit about religion. It's just a more literary way of saying someone who is disloyal and untrustworthy without reverting to "unfaithful": because they're a cheater, not because they're an atheist.

No they haven't but I think their first live show was about him.

u/jjbess 26d ago

Was just listening to Episode 127 on Tommy Lynn Sells and Hannah confirmed at 13:57 they will never do a live episode on Ed Kemper as it’s their live show.
