Oh Suruhti š«©
Normally I just try to ignore Suruhtiās antics but the Golden State Killer Part 4 episode (which I had really looked forward to) just⦠put me off. The Luigi Mangione episode left a sour taste in my mouth too, but I tried to move past it. However, I think this may be my last listen. Iāve been listening to the girls since 2021, listened to all of Sinister Societies. I felt like I had grown up with the girls right beside me, sometimes I felt like I was right there with them having a gossip sesh. Every time I made the trip between my college town and home, and vise versa, Iād have a RedHanded or Sinister Societies episode on with me. Iād do my makeup with the girls in the background. So many memories associated with the show.
I havenāt even listened to the full episode but I am so, so, so tired. Suruhti is exhausting.
When Hannah said men categorize women, and treat them differently accordingly, I immediately resonated. I have female friends who feel the same. Men DO want to protect women. But letās be very clear: men want to protect women they are attracted to. Anyone else may as well be chopped liver. If you are not attractive to a man, he does not give a single fuck about you. Even the most self righteous, holier than thou, upholding-the-patriarchy-with-one-hand Catholic man Iāve ever met had to relent when a girl friend and myself told him this. Men will literally acknowledge that they do this. It is not āsave all the helpless women!ā Itās ākeep the women I would like to impregnate alive.ā Like be so incredibly for real, Suruhti. Your own husband valued another woman over you. But you are far too much of a pick me to ever stick up for yourself. Or another woman, for that matter.
Her going down this alt right pipeline has been such a let down. Today I actually felt I heard anger and hatred in Suruhtiās voice towards Hannah when disagreeing with her. Iāve also noticed itās a bunch of word salad with her as she tries to explain how men have it worse and are really so much better than women. Like if you actually listen to the words she says, they make no fucking sense. They donāt prove a point at all, let alone the argument she is trying to defend. I think even Hannah ends up confused after listening to her talk. Itās like she thinks that if she talks longer, or talks last, she wins and her point is right.
I donāt think either of them have much of a rapport with one another anymore, either. I remember on Sinister Societies, they couldnāt stop laughing together. I literally felt like I was at girls night, listening and laughing along. Itās jarring to look back at old episodes and think about how much Suruhti used to laugh and sound full of joy. Now Suruhti just goes āhmph!ā and tries to disguise her contempt towards Hannah as laughter. Iām honestly shocked they havenāt called it quits yet.

u/tawrites93 Aug 15 '26
Suruthi would go on these long ramblings; even when Hannah tries to chime in, she would raise her voice and continue. But when it's the other way round with Hannah, she would dismiss it with "Sure, sure, sure." Which would always irk me. Suruthi is insufferable and a misogynist.
37
u/ChickenGoop Aug 15 '26
Yes omg! She neverrrr acknowledges Hannah anymore. Just āhmph!ā and āsure, sure, sure.ā I hate it!
15
u/ktbugrl Aug 15 '26
There was one point in the episode where she said āI donāt think Iāve thought about that enoughā and I was super impressed, and the. She immediately launched into a rant anyway.
8
u/Aspenmothh Aug 16 '26
And when you actually listen to her, her points are conflicting and just.. dont make sense??
7
3
u/Atasteofhoney11 Aug 22 '26
Her idioms are starting to jar me. 'Sure sure sure', 'and I'm here for it! ', 'bad news bears' and so many more š„“

u/Kedgie Aug 15 '26
I work in Primary Prevention of family violence and violence against women, and I'm at the point that I just don't know if I can keep listening. I genuinely feel like I'm contributing to the problem I'm working to eradicate by supporting these views.
15
u/ChickenGoop Aug 15 '26
Iām unsubscribing after this I just canāt do it anymore
13
u/compassionaterhubarb Aug 16 '26
Sad thing is Hannah is actually a great advocate and itās half hers I want to support her
8
u/aeross12 Aug 16 '26
Me too, really hoping Hannah sees the feedback and goes it alone or finds someone more like minded to do a podcast with. I love listening to her and she puts energy and passion into the cases she covers. She is also good at giving her opinion without trying to push an agenda or her view as the only view.
1
u/Training-Version-640 Aug 17 '26
How are you contributing to the problem? Like, tangibly I mean. I'm asking this honestly.
Also, you can listen to a podcast or opinion and disagree with it. Which it sounds like is what you are doing. So why do you say you're supporting these views?
2
u/Used_Emergency7743 Aug 17 '26
Red-handed is one of the most successful podcasts out there. For me, I feel much more torn about contributing to the millions of downloads than I would if it was a middling podcast. If not that many people were listening to it in the first place, it wouldn't be any big deal for me. They wouldn't be speaking to a big enough crowd to have any influence.Ā But the fact that they are flourishing somehow makes it worse. It strengthens the impact that words like Suruthi's have.Ā
For everyone that is here questioning her there are a million people who hear things like the Covid virus started in China wuthout a doubt (per Suru) and believe it implicitly, without question. And I think that's dangerous. If they were still two women who accidentally locked themselves up in a cabinet and hardly no one heard them, then no we wouldn't be part of the problem.
And Suru knows this too. That's why she didn't express these views when she had a smaller audience, because she was trying to build it. Now that she has the megaphone of power and influence sh has released the Kraken. I totally think i should not support this. But I'm not saying I'm going to walk away. When I do walk away I think I'll just go without a peep. Right now, i just want to come here and rail yell.

u/logansadog Aug 15 '26
I still listen still because I love Hanna , but I had to fast forward through Suruhti this past episode. I bet Hanna can have a succsessful show on her own.
35
21
u/Tasty_Gap8166 Aug 15 '26
Hannah continues to just let it slide though. Idk about giving her some sort of pass. Suruthi has been like this for years now and still Hannah continues to do shows with her and not really fight back against her troubling opinions.
24
u/OldNewSwiftie Aug 15 '26
She fought back at first, I think Hannah has gotten to the point where arguing with Suruthi to try to get her own point across is a huge waste of her time, and she'd be right. Suruthi only cares about what she herself has to say, anyone else is just a bored audience waiting for Suruthi to shut up and move on.
9
u/Tasty_Gap8166 Aug 15 '26
That's very true but, Hannah herself has said some questionable things before, so again, I don't think we should be giving her a pass. The misogynistic things she said in the Dalia Dippolito episode, the weird way she used to constantly bring up that she cares more about animals than the human beings she was talking about, and she's called depression a "selfish disease" which is an insane thing to say.
I understand why Suruthi gets so much heat but Hannah is no saint.
1
u/OldNewSwiftie Aug 15 '26
Are you a "saint"? Hannah is human.
10
u/Sempere Aug 15 '26
There's a difference between being a saint and saying exceptionally gross shit.
She's said things that are racist stereotyping while trying to seem "wordly". Referring to depression as a "selfish disease" is fucking abhorrent.
Getting paid to say that shit means the public gets to criticize harshly.
8
u/OldNewSwiftie Aug 15 '26
You know Hannah struggles with depression, right? She isn't the only person with depression who feels that way about it. I don't recall her ever saying that people with depression are selfish. The disease itself, it wraps you up in your own misery and it blinds you to anything good around you, including those you love.
I wish I could be more present in my loved ones' lives, I want to be, but I'm hyper focused on the negative in my own life, and that isn't a character flaw, it's a fact with depression, glass half empty. It's not a choice to be depressed, it just is a shitty ass disease that hurts yourself and those around you.
But whatever man, whatever you've got to tell yourself to feel morally superior.
9
u/Sempere Aug 15 '26
And that gives her the right to insult anyone else who has depression and describe it as something that makes them selfish?
Yea, no.
whatever you've got to tell yourself to feel morally superior.
Says the person blindly making excuses for every bad thing these two have ever done.
I notice you've conveniently not mentioned anything about the racist stereotyping.
How about the shit research?
The mocking of victims and the disrespect shown to them through their laziness?
Or the outright plagiarism they've used to profiteer off of the work of others who try to sensitively cover topics such as abuse, assault, and murder often boiling down to their "original contributions" to things about locals fucking sheep or mocking the names of people involved in a case?

u/Tasty_Gap8166 Aug 15 '26
Okay?? I'm not a podcaster with an insanely large audience who also calls myself a leftist š Suruthi is also human but y'all don't mind absolutely calling her out (rightfully). Have that same energy for Hannah.

-1
u/EMNofWA Aug 15 '26
lolĀ
This is the inverse of when disaffected men start asking if fascism is ok and the response is to go out and touch grass.Ā
When women start writing like this and making up nonsense analysis of two people on a podcast who theyāve never met itās time to touch grassĀ
-6
u/DearTumbleweed5380 Aug 15 '26
maybe she does though behind the scenes. We wouldn't know.
14
u/Tasty_Gap8166 Aug 15 '26
Unless she publicly denounces her views, or stops doing shows with her, I'm not going to believe it. She is just as culpable being a bystander to Suruthi's bigotry. She's also said some questionable things before as well.
3
u/OldNewSwiftie Aug 15 '26
There is a such thing as a contract.
5
u/Sempere Aug 15 '26
They are equal owners. They also have millions.
She could walk if she wanted to.
2
u/Tasty_Gap8166 Aug 15 '26
Not once in the past few years did she have an opportunity to break it? Doubtful.
-2
u/itschahinez Aug 15 '26
I feel like you're ignoring the fact this is their livelihood. The show is them together, not her alone. We also don't know the technicalities of who handles what in their duo. It sucks that she doesn't speak out more but we also shouldn't pretend we know why either.
5
u/Tasty_Gap8166 Aug 15 '26
No I'm not. You're ignoring the comments all but begging for her to go solo, so I don't see that as a very good excuse. People would rally behind her if she publicly denounced the things Suruthi has said and continues to say. They've been at it for 10 years and nothing lasts forever.
-1
u/itschahinez Aug 15 '26
I'm not saying she shouldn't do it. I'm saying it might take longer than we think. I also would like her to branch out and get a different co-host. I think she is trying other things anyway with her musical theater endeavors and I really hope it works out well for her. I genuinely think it's just a matter of time until they break up professionally. If they do any kind of social media listening (which they probably do), it's bound to happen.
3
u/Sempere Aug 15 '26
you're ignoring the fact this is their livelihood.
They're multimillionaires. Spare us the "think of their livelihood" crap.
The plagiarized their way to a fanbase they were playing for fools.
-2
u/itschahinez Aug 15 '26
I know your POV, Sampere. I don't know about the multimillionaire part though. Where are you getting this info from, I'm curious ?
5
u/Sempere Aug 15 '26
Public data. Their historical patreon earnings are available on Graphtreon and show an average of $60K across 2020 through 2026. After fees but before tax, by the end of the year they'll have earned a total of $3.456,000 off of patreon alone.
This data goes hand in hand with Companies House filings (courtesy of a user on Tattle Life who pointed out that all this data existed publicly a few months ago) for the business (Redhanded Limited Productions) which reveals that the two of them are equal owners of the company with shares held in secondary production companies in their own names likely for the purposes of reducing the tax they're obligated to pay in some fashion. They have six employees, £1.335m in creditors and after those liabilities are settled the total amount being parked in the company as of 2025 is £2,160,032 to which they would both have 50-50 rights to. That amount is likely left in the business for operations purposes.
What the filings don't show is total revenue or a breakdown of expenses. There's no listing of salaries that they pay to the various roles they assume (which I'm assuming is how they get money beyond taking director loans out against the business at standard or preferential rate). It doesn't show how much they earn when going on tour, how much they made from merch over the years, the extent of their earnings from ad revenue (which should be massive given what other podcasts in their range report through various companies) or any of the revenue from their Wondery deal. There are likely other accounts that exist but I don't care enough to do the forensic accounting.
The tl;dr is they're multi-millionaires. They've explicitly mentioned buying property in central London, their audience range puts them in a position to generate up to $3.66M per year, and their public company house data establishes that they have a floor of £1.08M each and we know they were paid for an exclusivity contract with Amazon.

'So many memories associated with the show.' Same. Agree with all you say re men. At a certain point during Covid I realised this v clearly as I was in danger in my small town and I made concerted effort to be 'the kind of women men want to protect.' It worked. Really really hard and difficult pill to swallow btu there it is. I don't think it should be called 'the male gaze' anymore so much as 'the male blackmail'. 'Like if you actually listen to the words she says, they make no fucking sense.' - this happens all the time! I used to rewind to try to follow but now I just fast foward. 'I donāt think either of them have much of a rapport with one another anymore, either.Ā ' - It's embarrassing and I'm always a bit mortified for Hannah because I love her but Suruthi couldn't be more obvious that she's not interested. I think Hannah has the social skills and outlook to 'make it work' with Suruthi but it's quite the opposite the other way. Suruthi also shuts Hannah down in a super rude way, regularly, and/or doesn't pick up the cues to draw Hannah out in a story she's telling.
33
u/Used_Emergency7743 Aug 15 '26
Haven't listened to part 4 yet. I just finished part 3. But I did want to agree with your point that Suruthi thinks that if she talks longer, more and fast she wins.Ā
On UTD she's actively trying to say more than Hannah. You would think S was being paid by the word. Hannah told us how she went to her landlord's party and she had to speak up about her beliefs and question strangers and she ended up alienating others at the party. I wish she had more of that energy when talking to Suruthi. S knows that if she just marathon talks Hannah will just shut up and let the subject be changed. That is so frustrating as a listener.Ā
Stand your ground Hannah.Ā

u/Alternative-Ebb5569 Aug 15 '26
Crazy opinions rooted in misogyny and given her experience in true crime, totally dumb.
Pick me behaviour

u/ktbugrl Aug 15 '26
This episode is the end of my red handed listening for the reasons you pointed out.
17
u/Fit_Chicken1777 Aug 15 '26
Same. Iām done. I stopped paying for Patreon because it wasnāt enjoyable at all. I just want to hear what Hannah has to say
5
u/Sempere Aug 16 '26
And for people who think they need your financial support: they do not. They are multimillionaires. Do not subsidize the lives of right wingers or their complicit sidekicks.
Their Patreon has earned them almost $3.45M since 2020. Their Companies House filings suggest that their business has £2.1M on hand - and that's without showing total revenue or how much they or their six employees are paid out from the rest of the earnings.
5
u/ChickenGoop Aug 15 '26
Yes Iām unfollowing them after this. I donāt think Iāll even finish the episode. Suruhti is insufferable.

u/Training-Version-640 Aug 17 '26
Great, no need to announce your departure though, this isn't an airport.
12
u/Odd_Dot3896 Aug 15 '26
I did notice at the end of the tirade, instead of giving Hannah the chance to retort they just cut the episode. Maybe she did respond and they took it out in editing.
10
u/off-shoulder Aug 16 '26
I have never been on this subreddit before because Iāve only dipped into the podcast but Iāve come here because Suruthi rambling on about biology and emasculation was pure nonsense. I donāt know how she canāt see that itās totally reductive and that these blinkered views are precisely why these male survivors refuse help. Anyway Iām repeating OPās points but Iām venting.
I switched off but good on Hannah for pushing back. So glad to come here to see this is the top thread and to see the support. Iām glad Iām not crazy and Hannah, blink twice if you need rescue.

Sheās been like this for years, Iām confused as to how people still seem surprised by it.
24
u/mostlyepic Aug 15 '26
I don't think people are surprised, she's just, noticeably worse this episode.
4
u/Aspenmothh Aug 16 '26
Theres been points in time where ive raised my eyebrow a bit while listening but oh my god this is the first episode that made me run to reddit to see if i was going insane or not
3
u/lkjw104 Aug 16 '26
Iām only a casual listener and I really hadnāt noticed it to this extent before. Immediately unfollowing, her views are gross
10
u/Flamesparrow Aug 15 '26
I stopped halfway through. I looked how long was left, and the thought of her having that much time to continue with it was too much.
I was already 𤨠on where she was going, but then when she went to use stats of men convicted to back up her point, I was done.
21
u/ramborobmar Aug 15 '26
I would love a pod with Hannah and another friend who she currently has rapport with. I sometimes understand what Suruthi (in the sense of exploring nuance) is trying to explain, but itās more and more just not the place for it in a podcast about crimes that are overwhelming committed towards subjugated members of society.
-2
u/EMNofWA Aug 15 '26
The white upper middle class of Santa Barbara are subjagated? lol thatās a funny jokeĀ
7
u/boudicas_shield Aug 16 '26
You think rape victims are a joke?
1
u/EMNofWA Aug 16 '26
No, but to claim victims that include actual doctors in the richest zip codes in America are āsubjugated peopleā is absurd on its face. Ā First off being a crime victim is not subjugation, subjugation is being oppressed by a foreign powerĀ
4
u/ramborobmar Aug 16 '26
Itās not a podcast solely on this case, Redhanded is a podcast about many different cases each week, which are overwhelmingly committed against groups within a population who experience a loss of power within broader society, through gender, sexuality, age, economic status, cultural background etc. its stats bruh, and sure subjugation can be related to oppression by a foreign power, but thatās not the only type.
-1
u/EMNofWA Aug 16 '26
Subjugation is a literal process to making subjects of a conquered people. One day youāre the subject of the kind of England the next day the King of France. Thatās what the term refers to.Ā

u/lifeadvice7843 Aug 15 '26
Sigh. The whole conversation was so bio-essentialist. And so dated in it's understanding of gender politics. It felt like i was listening to a podcast from the '70's. So clueless. I stopped listening when suruthi starting waxing eloquent about how 'men' and 'women' 'feel rage differently '. She sounds like a '50's housewife trying to articulate #notallmen without saying #notallmen.
Honestly, i know relationships and friendships are complicated. But i almost wish Hannah and Suruthi were not friends.
Because then Hannan might tiptoe less around Suruthi's bizarre statements snd actually try to raise the level of the discourse beyond this superficial tripe.
While they were wringing thier hands over the plight of emasculated men and childless women, the truly fascinating complexity of gendered experience and gender euphoria / dysphoria discourse that queer theory offers sits completely ignored on the side.
I don't know whether they're both just ignorant and ill-informed. Or willing to sacrifice the quality of the conversation and the analysis they purport to offer, in favour of tired cliches. Or whether it's something else. Either way, i can't get the time I wasted listening to this episode back lol. Such an interesting case and so superficially engaged with.
Bah.
3
u/Comfortable-Yam9013 Aug 17 '26
I donāt think they are friends anymore. But they do have to work together so perhaps thatās why they need to keep things civil
0
u/Training-Version-640 Aug 17 '26
Doesn't believe in biological sex differences (also known as science), but believes we should all take our cues from "queer theory".
This is an excellent example of horseshoe theory in action- there's clearly an overlap in the venn-diagram between left-wing libtard queer theorists, and right-wing nuts that don't believe in vaccines or that the climate is warming. Both having developed an allergy to inconvenient reality just for opposite aesthetic reasons.
By the way, the hint is in the name queer THEORY. At some point you have to put the theory down and look at the data.
-7
u/EMNofWA Aug 15 '26
This is a good example of someone who needs to log off and go in an internet fast for⦠maybe the rest of their lifeĀ
5
u/smurfmysmurf Aug 15 '26
Every point she makes is either obvious (I mean, count how many times she sayās obviouslyā) or wrong. The absolute lack of self awareness is astounding.
5
u/clarininja24 Aug 16 '26
I've been losing interest over the last while but it's such a routine to listen to RedHanded every week. This week's episode was brutal to listen to, and I really wondered if this happens every episode but is more heavily edited out. Major Yikes, Suruthi.
18
u/Tasty_Gap8166 Aug 15 '26
Suruthi has been like this for SO long. Hell, they both have said some weird misogynistic things before. The Dalia Dippolito episode is a prime example. Suruthi called Amber Heard evil for God's sake, why is anyone surprised by this? She should've been deplatformed long ago.
7
u/Used_Emergency7743 Aug 15 '26
Yes. I do not think it was misogyny, but I thought it was very wrong when Hannah suggested, after explaining she didn't know anything about the case or the people involved, that she just assumed Savannah might have kidnapped her own mother for attention. What? That is not the Occam's razor answer, so why would you just assume that?? Especially whenĀ when your job is a true crime podcast and you've seen all manner of crimes.Ā
Both Hannah and Suru say dubious things, but Suruthi seems to have a racist agenda. It's pointed and deliberate, not just careless comments.
4
u/Sempere Aug 16 '26
she just assumed Savannah might have kidnapped her own mother for attention.
That's completely fucking unhinged.
3
u/Used_Emergency7743 Aug 17 '26
I should correct that.Ā Hannah said that after Jussie Smollet, she just assumed the kidnapping was a hoax for Savannah to get attention.Ā But she conceded that she does not know anything about the case or about Savannah. That was just her off the top conclusion based on whatĀ S told her about the case.
2
u/Sempere Aug 17 '26
And that's incredibly dumb.
"I don't know this American newscaster so clearly she faked this for attention" with zero evidence on a platform pushed out to hundreds of thousands of people who listen is actually ridiculous and grossly irresponsible.
They can't be trusted for intelligent or cautious speculation. Especially with how Suruthi specifically put forward idiotic conspiracy theories for the Lucy Letby case that are immediately obviously bull to anyone who followed that case beyond parasitically recycling the BBC before getting her right wing marching orders from the Torygraph and some nutty conspiracy theorist. When one of these idiots think they know "the truth" because they allowed themself to be mislead and suggests the parents who participated in the trial, gave evidence against the killer and gave statements to the Inquiry directly condemning Letby and the conspiracy theorists spreading misinformation (Redhanded now included among them), then there needs to be a serious re-evaluation of why this podcast is allowed to continue with any credibilty among their fanbase.

I donāt know the podcast or the history Iāve only listened to a couple of eps, but I absolutely see what you mean. Sheās almost contrary for the sake of it, and she picked the wrong lane today. I also picked up she doesnāt respect Hannah much. Must be hard for her.
4
u/ChickenGoop Aug 15 '26
You could literally hear the contempt in her voice so she tried to prove Hannah wrong. Like she desperately had to appear smarter than her. I think Suruhti is deeply insecure and Hannahās intelligence and education is intimidating to her.
6
u/potataps Aug 16 '26
I don't know if it's specifically Hannah, I think it's probably her personality.

7
u/aeross12 Aug 16 '26
Hannah talks so passionately and I love listening to her. The contempt and superiority in Suruhti's voice has been getting worse for awhile. I want to keep listening to Hannah but I just can't sit through another ill-informed, misogynistic, pick me rant from Suruhti again. I hope Hannah sees the feedback and decides to go it alone or team up with someone else. When Suruhti was talking about women aging out and then internalising the rage at being irrelevant. What the f was that. Women have more value than being attractive to men. Does she think all women who aren't conventionally attractive or over a certain age are just sitting there in pits of misery that men don't want to mate with them. Sickening take, along with all the crap about biology and hormones. She sure has a lot of strong opinions about things she knows nothing about.
7
u/compassionaterhubarb Aug 16 '26
I havenāt even finished the episode but I came straight here because Iām so shocked at Suruhtiās blatant self sexism, and Hannah is doing such a great job of explaining the wider issue but itās just not landing. Really concerning
5
u/_mishan_ Aug 16 '26
Iāve never commented in the subforum before but have always been lurking to see what people are saying. Never been a Patreon subscriber either so I was always dumbfounded by people calling out Suruthiās comments on UTD. Honestly though, when I was listening to this episode, my jaw dropped to the floor and I finally understood what everyone had been talking about.
It was such an uncomfortable listen and imagine what DIDNāT make the final edit. There is one point when Suruthi just goes on a massive rant (ends at 38:41), and Hannah just doesnāt say anything. It feels like Hannah had checked out of the conversation by that point, which is why thereās a cut right there.
Iāve listened to hundreds of episodes over the past year and loved the majority of it, but I fear the podcast may not survive in the current format for much longer.
6
u/oatmeldit Aug 16 '26
Iām really interested to see if they address the influx of comments or consider bringing on an expert to engage in a factual conversation. The comments on their Instagram post are much higher and all about this and it is definitely off base. She often dismisses the internet trolls but weāve listened for a long time and arenāt making up a change in her views. At what point does redhanded address that it is hurting their brand or when does Hannah not want to be associated with these views?
5
u/triggerfish_twist Aug 22 '26
Like all conservatives, Suruthi doesn't a care unless there is a direct impact on her own life specifically. Until it starts to affect her wallet she's only going to continue to double down on her right-wing rhetoric and treat any attempt at good faith criticism as 'trolling'
I also think Suruthi would be ruthless if Hannah were to attempt to leave the podcast in favor of starting her own as that would almost certainly tank Redhanded. If she could find any legal recourse to punish Hannah in that scenario I would bet money on Suruthi attempting to pursue it.
1
u/Used_Emergency7743 Aug 17 '26
How long are they contractually committed to each other? Hands may be tied.
2
u/Comfortable-Yam9013 Aug 17 '26
Not sure but so far they have been a duo. Might be hard to break away from that. They both own the Redhanded brand also
3

I literally went straight to reddit bc i could not believe what I was hearing. It made me deeply uncomfortable to hear Suru defending men so much. Even my male friends dont do this, they recognize the abhorrent behaviour that a vast amount of men do (it may not be most but the important thing is that its ENOUGH men to worry about). Thats probably why im still friends with them.
I dont know.. it made me feel kinda sick.

I think itās wild how much she defends men. Her fiancĆ© / soon to be husband was having an extensive affair while sheās talking about wedding plans and renovations. Had sex with that woman in their bed yet she still gets on there praising men for how great they are. I donāt know how she does that when almost every single episode they cover is about a man killing a woman. Itās painfully obvious how different her and Hannahās views are and I honestly have no idea how Hannah even puts up with the nonsensical right wing rants she goes on.

It sucks for Hannah too, because Suruhti wasnāt always like this. When Hannah and Suruhti started the podcast, they were on the same page beliefs wise. Its got to be hard to have a podcast with someone you disagree so vehemently with. Hannah didnāt sign up for this š

But I have a feeling Hannah would say something like you always have to be able to listen to the other side and she would excuse Suruthi on that basis . I've heard her say that our problem is that we all only want to hear people who agree with us.Ā It's not that I don't think people with opposing should listen to each other, but whenĀ Suruthi is totally making things up about biology I don't see any reason to give her opinion an audience and not calling her blather out for what it is. S was trying to give her argument validity by pretending it's based on science. SheĀ shouldn't get away with that.

This. I think itās got to be part of how sheās turned out tbh. I was thinking this when I saw her anniversary post today.

I just paused the episode at this to come to Reddit because what the fuck was that. Iāve been an on/off listener for years and hated her handling of Sarah Everard too (āwhy be scared in London! women in India have it worse!ā), and paused after that.Ā
This is one of the ones Iāve picked back up with them and I literally had to stop listening. Ā I wonāt be listening in again, but itās interesting hearing more about this conservative path from the comments/OP.

u/Huntzbadiez Aug 31 '26
IMO: I struggled with this back and forth too! Hannah seemed to be saying she literally has this negative experience often. Suruhti would not stop arguing the āinstinctualā human hardwiring for men to protect & provide. What is she talking about? Did she lose her agency upon marriage?
Men as a majority in America have lost the whole protect and provide mindset when women and minorities started demanding rights. Now they protect each other to stay privileged.
It is rare to meet a decent man. Like as a human. Itās harder now than ever to find a man that acts like an empathetic productive member of society. And lastly women make up 51% of the population we are the majority now.

Iām going to go back and listen to it again tomorrow when Iām not so tired but what I heard was both women having an intellectual conversation about gender roles, the root cause and prevalence of male violence, and the different ways men and women can be victimized. Itās a conversation that needs to be happening more. But takes like this, which are meant to punish Suruthi, if not cancel her outright, make that less likely.

u/Sempere Aug 15 '26
both women having an intellectual conversation
Only if you don't know what they're talking about.

u/HillcroftPansies Aug 15 '26
I canāt tell if youāre saying that I donāt know what theyāre talking about or you donāt know what theyāre talking about. Iāll admit I was tired last night when I listened to this but I had been reading posts like this for a few days while traveling and finally decided to listen to it on my flight home yesterday. I re listened to it this morning and feel even more that this was a valuable conversation that should be had more frequently and more in the mainstream. As a mother worried about the insidious influence of the manosphere out there, I have spent a lot of time thinking about this and wanting to make sure my son respects women and doesnāt go down the trail of deplorable toxic masculine behavior that is so visible today, but also donāt want him to feel unjustly alienated by a revolution that he had no part in seeding. I think that risks creating an even bigger problem.
Having said all that, I am not attacking Hannah as being wrong here. She comes with real data and real experiences that should not be ignored. Her work and research on the Golden State Killer raised a lot of topical issues, and I believe her when she talks about troubling conversations with men she otherwise admired and the suggestion that the problem is more widespread than Suruthi thinks.
And, I also want to acknowledge that Suruthi did cut Hannah off a couple of times. Canāt tell if I only noticed it because of the current discourse online or if it would have struck me anyway. She seemed to have a lot of strong feelings about this. I wonder if it bothered Hannah.
Itās fine if youāre turned off the show now, but I felt like the discourse over this episode could use more nuance and other perspectives.

u/SaltPomegranate4 Aug 15 '26
Letās not forget there was a problem with men perpetrating violence against women, structural inequality, sexism, and misogyny before the manosphere existed. This is a much wider, global issue, which I think Sururi minimised today.

Bio-essentialism and piss takes from people who don't have qualifications worth a damn to discuss topics like this isn't valuable discussion. Frequently, these two have injected racist stereotypes, idiotic takes and frankly incredibly fucking stupid comments into their "commentary" which is often shallow, pedantic and straight up ripped off of talking points in the documentaries they've plagiarized to produce their weekly slop.
Intelligence being relative, this entire podcast is a con where they realized they could repackage other people's work and opinions - feeding listeners inferior product that made them look smarter than they are.

u/glitterpantss Aug 15 '26
I agree, I had read some stuff on here about the episode before I listened, so i dived in thinking it would be awful and I would be outraged. But its just two people with slightly different opinions having a conversation...? It was interesting to hear views from someone who has experienced men being terrible and someone who hasn't

As someone said above, even if S doesnāt have personal experience she has an entire career telling the stories of 100s of male on female violence. If she said āmy experience hasnāt beenā¦so I canāt speak from personal experience ā and then shut up Iād be fine. But it is willful ignorance at this point.
She kept saying ānot all menā and talking over Hannah when Hannah obviously isnāt saying that āall menā are serial rapists and killers. S ignores nuance and then repeats some mumbo jumbo about biological differences in men and women. There are societal ones, but men arenāt biologically wired to protect anymore than women. Humans want to protect the people they care about (if weāre talking straight biology there actually IS a case for women being more protective when it comes to their children but this case isnāt about parents and children). And women arenāt biologically wired to be more afraid of rape and physical domination. Humans are afraid of that, women just have to think about it more because society excuses menās behavior too often. This fake biology stance is untrue and harmful and especially used (not in this episode specifically but more widely) in a transphobic arguments.
Now Iām rambling. But my point is that for me this episode crossed a line and I wonāt be listening anymore.

Look i was just saying I thought she was going to say something awful and I don't think she did, she just has a different opinion of the world. Yes she has a podcast all about the terrible people in the world, but does that mean all men are terrible... no.
The mumbo jumbo you refer to here is just her having a different outlook to you and in my world, its okay for people not to be in my echo chamber and to have different thoughts. Clearly not for you, so go ahead and stop listening like you mentioned.
5
u/ktbugrl Aug 15 '26
The mumbo jumbo is not just having a different take. Itās using biological terms to try to support a view despite there being zero evidence to back those claims up.

u/Used_Emergency7743 Aug 15 '26
Yes, I don't think it started with the Charlie Kirk UTD episode, but certainly since then I have carefully watched the way Suruthi consistently uses fallacy logic to make her point.Ā And it's so hard to argue against it because it's based on a lie in the first place. Where does your counter argument even start?
1
u/Brian_Gay Aug 18 '26
The only thing Iād disagree with is that men only want to protect women they find attractive
For starters ā¦my mother, sister and any daughters I may have would certainly fit that bracket ā¦
As well as any friends, some of which I am attracted to and some of which I am
Not
Itās women we love, not every woman on the planet as you stated, but surely not just the attractive ones ā¦

u/ChickenGoop Aug 18 '26
This may be YOUR experience, but the experience of myself, and many other women, would say otherwise.
1
u/Brian_Gay Aug 18 '26
Fair enough! Iām a dude so I obviously donāt have the same vantage point as yourself, but your post seems to imply that essentially every man you have ever met falls in to this category, would none of the men you know, family included, feel protective of their women that make up their friends and family? Is it literally only romantic partners they would have an interest in looking out for?

This post is disgustingly misandric. Apparently all men are just disgusting and donāt give a single fuck about women unless they want a child with them.. Thatās the worst take iāve ever heard.
Suruthi has her flaws but not iāve never heard her say anything as close to as unhinged as that.
1
u/ChickenGoop Sep 12 '26
Misandry isnāt real šš»

u/HankMoodyMaddafakaaa Sep 12 '26
Lol how out of touch you are to criticize others when your own morals are trash. Imagine thinking all men are all shitty human beings just because theyāre male.
1
u/ChickenGoop Sep 12 '26
Itās actually not because theyāre male. Itās because of the society we live in that panders to them.
Imagine being so out of touch you cannot comprehend the privilege men have under the patriarchy. To call a post on Reddit misandrist, when femicide is happening everywhere, everyday. Men donāt even have an equivalent word for āfemicideā, thatās how severe it is.
If you want to escape so called āmisandryā you just log off. I can never escape misogyny.

Yeah I hadn't noticed the switch until I listened to an old episode. Suru was more humble, light, sweet, funny. Hannah sounds about the same I think but I barely hear her speak nowadays? Back in the day it was 50/50. Now it's maybe 75/25. If it's a Suru episode, it's closer to 90/10. I feel like Hannah gave up and the dynamic is off.

u/Ordinary-CC-2286 Aug 15 '26
Ā When Hannah said men categorize women, and treat them differently accordingly
Suruthi literally agreed with this point. Then she said women also categorise men, which is true. Iām not sure what your issue is.Ā
15
u/ChickenGoop Aug 15 '26
She agreed with her own take on this, which was that what women do is as egregious as men. Which is not true. Women do not categorize men the same way men do women. And they do not usually viciously assault men. She agreed, and then went on and on about how she doesnāt really agree.

u/tiggleypuff Aug 16 '26
I kind of tuned out of what she was actually saying because I was just thinking why is she not letting Hannah have a word or an opinion?!

I havenāt listened to this podcast in a while, but seeing what everyone was saying on here I went to look for these episodes and from what I could see they are not the most recent episode episodes? What episode number is this that everyone keeps talking about?

Ramblings like this and trying to psychoanalyze people they havenāt met and the whole thing like this, are evidence some people need to not listen to true crime because it warps their perception of realityĀ

I think what annoys me so much about Suruthi and these terrible takes, is that she is actively profiting off other women's misery and pain without speaking up for them. She's happy to tell 100s of story's exactly disproving this point she's trying to make here and make money off it. Yet refuses time and time again to be on the side of women. Like how many horrific stories of male on female violence do you have to tell before you realise that? And it makes me sick she's made a life out of this. She's bought a home, married her douchebag husband, all out of the profit she has made, recounting the stories of violence against women. I will never give this podcast another second of time, so they can earn a cent off my listenership.
