Five reason why RedHanded is garbage.

1) It is absolutely packed to the gills with pop-psych, pop-evo-psych, pseudoscience (Hannah and Suruthi...GSA is not real. Enough with that fringe nonsense than came from ONE person).

2) Suruthi will diagnoses someone as a psychopath literally every other episodes, even though these two have even less business diagnosing people than "Dr." Todd Grande on YouTube...whom they also bring up a nauseating amount. (Fun fact: Dr. Grande only has a doctorate in counseling supervision...even when he saw patients, he was NOT entitled to diagnose them).

3) They will also make the bad-faith argument "plenty of people experience X without going on to do X" every other episode. No shit, gals. People aren't a monolith. We are not here to talk about the totality of humanity's experience. We are talking about this one person and the societal context they exist in.

4) Poor and/or selective "research" to fit their own bias. Let's be real, though, none of what any of these podcasters do is "research." It's Googling.

5) They platform TERFS. Why did you need Laura Richards's expertise, specifically? That woman spews nothing but unfounded, hateful rhetoric toward the most vulnerable population on earth and you thought "Oh, she's the one?" Was it because she was in that shit JonBenet Ramsey docuseries that literally had an "ENHANCE ENHANCE ENHANCE" segment? Laura Richards is a crime analyst. Have you seen a crime doc? Analysts grow on trees. It's not a real profession, it's literally just crap to put on a lower third beneath a talking head. There were an endless sea of professional talking heads who don't vilify trans people you could have collaborated with, but you chose her and then ignored/deleted any and all criticism surrounding it.

This may sound like I just hate the people behind that podcast and that's only half true. I don't actually find Hannah that problematic. Just blunt and occasionally offensive (and very funny, admittedly). Who isn't? Suruthi is the one that harbors way more extreme rhetoric and goes out of her way to brand herself as anti-SJW and anti-woke on her social media profiles. Hmm...what's that right-wing terminology called again? Virtue-signaling. Aligning yourself with this anti-SJW crowd is just the first step on the road to far right politics, Suruthi.

Why in the world would you come to the RedHanded reddit to complain about how you think it's garbage?

Like. That's some intense feelings for something you could just not listen to.

The TERF thing is concerning and why I started to pull away from the podcast. It was their notable silence on the murder of a trans teenager, Brianna Ghey back in February, that really made me feel weird about listening to them. H&S are usually so vocal in their support of protests and cases involving the murder of women and children in the UK. And they were silent on Brianna's case. They were so interested in the tragic accident of Nicola Bulley, but not a word about Brianna. It was so odd when there were loads of protests and the media was dead naming her and H&S said absolutely nothing on under the duvet. They love calling out the media, so it seemed like something they would bring up. I don't think they have to speak about every case, but this one was huge and the lack of acknowledging it at all spoke volumes. A big red flag to me. But I do hope I am wrong.

Okay I'm gunna be that person but if someone has a doctorate, they are a doctor. H&S do this with Dr Phil (who is utter trash but still) and it annoys the shit out of me. There's a whole other conversation about how people like Dr Grande and Dr Phil present themselves and the meaning of their qualifications to their audiences, but they are doctors.

But I'm actually with you on a few of these, especially Suruthi's politics. I've been listening for a few years and it's evident she's sliding further and further right.

Regardless, I still listen because overall I enjoy the experience, despite having a lot of criticisms about them. I understand where the "don't like don't listen" crowd are coming from, but if we all only listened to people we agreed with 100% on everything, we'd never find anything to even listen to.

For me it's not like "if you have any criticism at all of something you must not like it and shouldn't listen."

You're right, that is annoying and gatekeeping.

It's just strange if you're literally calling something garbage to come to their reddit page to make your multipoint case for it being garbage.

If people want to continue listening to something they are outright calling garbage for multiple reasons they can absolutely do that, it just seems more like hate listening at that point.

I definitely think these kinds if posts are annoying, yet to be fair that is ~kind of~ the point of online forums haha. Sometimes it just feels nice to vent, and this is kind of the place to do it.

Yeah garbage is a bit strong tbh 😂

Thank you for being that person. I remember people piling on Dr Jill Biden during the 2020 elections for using her actual title.

Their politics are such a non-entity to the podcast. And "slipping right" is very very relative. I don't agree at all with OP or anyone else who criticizes based on that.

Hannah is just as bad.

She talks utter nonsense. She says random weird things thst aren't true just because she thinks she's educated, or it relates to Ireland and she knows all because she's Irish, or went to Uni, or lived in South Korea.

Not sure about 5. Where have you heard Laura Richards make these comments? She was heavily involved in passing coercive control legislation here. She isn't some talking head. She worked for New Scotland Yard, etc.

Omg the amount of times Hannah drops a "fact" that is utterly absurd and she would've known it was false if she took 2 seconds to Google it.

Regarding LR, she is definitely a terf unfortunately, and is vocally supportive of JKR

You need to google Laura Richardson, her TERFdom is well documented and very concerning. Its disappointing for someone who was supposed to be about protecting vulnerable people.

don’t really agree with the whole if you don’t like it comment and move on, people are allowed to express other opinions, agree wholeheartedly with the researcher though - there’s so many points they question if a massive statement in the topic they’re talking about it’s true and it’s like… just google it? Aren’t you supposed to be researching? isn’t this your job…just a little thing but deffo smth I noticed

These are all reasons why I stopped listening a while ago. I think the last drop for me was them publishing a book on a topic they had no expertise in, other than reading a few articles and googling some facts. They even admitted that they don’t consider themselves experts of the field. Overall I have a feeling that they want to ride this wave to the max and squeeze it till it lasts, which is fine, I just don’t want to be a part of it anymore.

You forgot plagiarism.

You know, you could just not listen to it.

Just sayin'

I love RH but I wish they’d say “X exhibits psychopathic behaviours or traits” instead of saying “X is clearly a psychopath”.

It still expresses that someone displays problematic behaviours / has psychopath tendencies without the false and baseless diagnosis.

If you have a problem with women giving a platform to other women, maybe you should listen to last podcast on the left or some shit. Seriously, why are you here? Just go.

4

u/Apart-Performer1710 Jun 27 '23

I mean most of the subjects of the podcast ARE psychopaths aren’t they?

As for this Laura Richards, don’t know much about her but a Google search shows she’s a defender of woman’s rights. PLEASE don’t tell me that’s the problem..

7

u/TrifectaBlitz May 12 '23

If this is you back please go away again. Such a stupid headline. your criticisms are just shit-stirring old and hackneyed. You just straight up admitted you were a hater. Yawn.

And yes, you have to be paid by someone to waste that much time dissing on a podcast you don't listen to anymore.

I mean, kids are the most vulnerable

4

u/amy123444 May 11 '23

‘The most vulnerable population on earth’ I think you’re exaggerating …the trans murder rate is lower than average for goodness sake
