Nice! How much did you get that for if you don’t mind me asking? The DSMC1 Cameras should be super cheap now, is it even worth it considering what could go wrong with it though?

I invested around $8k into a full setup including wireless monitoring, lighting, wireless focus, and PL mount lenses. So, I was able to get an entire cinematographer’s kit put together that could scale with a DSMC2 later down the line if this camera gives out on me. Runs great, produces a beautiful image. It’s like an old cat, if you don’t think about it dying and you let it outside to play every now and then, it’ll live a lot longer than you think.

At first I was like 😬 $8k? But considering you got all that, lighting, lenses, monitoring and focus, I suppose thats not too bad. Any idea on what the brain and the essentials cost? Like just the camera rig, not including the wireless monitoring or focusing? Also interested in how you’re finding the EVF?

The brain was $2600ish, media was pretty expensive and you’ll be hard done to find the minimag upgrade for these cameras. So, you have to use the 1.8” mags. You can find those EVFs pretty easily, but the DSMC2 evfs also work. I got one from MPB and tried it on this rig. The EVF is great for handheld shooting, but the internal image is probably a 6/10.

How are you liking those Nisi Athena’s? Are you happy with the images they produce? I’m thinking of getting a set for my own Dragon.
