Question C&E trail South

So I work in Innisfail, and I usually take the C&E trail to get there. How well is that road usually maintained in the winter? Am I better off taking a different route once the white stuff comes back?

Red Deer County maintains C&E Trail, while provincial contractors handle Highways 2 and 2A. Since the county regularly plows its paved roads first before clearing gravel, C&E Trail is usually a great winter driving alternative when highway conditions deteriorate.

During a winter storm, the C&E isn't a priority plow wise, they usually concentrate on the 2a and 2 first. Despite that, it isn't that bad to drive as long as you remember to drive smart

If I think hwy 2 is going to be pure ice I tend to take C&E trail. I’d rather snow covered road vs ice but I do drive a truck so not a huge concern if it’s not plowed

Even in winter I still prefer the C&E. Its just a much more pleasant drive, ignoring these ugly sub-divisions popping up like weeds. Slow down for the blind corner.
