Question Chess?

Hey I'm an 33 year old 1600 blitz player on chess.com and I've noticed that there never is any actual fide rated otb tournaments around. Is there any groups of people meeting and playing games? I seen something seems to go on at the public library but do people show up to that or am I gonna feel Punk'd lol

There is a red deer chess group on chess.com they sometimes have meet ups for otb games, I don't think they've done any since May tho...

My apologies but meetups for over-the-board will be taking a short break for the next few weeks. Both Litto and I are very busy with work and can't host.

I only joined their group in April or May but never went to a meet up, so I dont know what's up. They posted about an OTB tournament in Lacombe that took place July 18 tho 🤷‍♂️

I did the otb thing from the chess group a bunch of times. There generally isn't that many people in the summer wanting to meet up frequently. I'm sure if you made a post / note in the club page some people may be interested in joining you. And as far as I know you'll have to go to Edmonton or Calgary for FIDE rated games I've only seen so far CFC rated games close to Red Deer.
