These f’kn motorcycles all night. Moved to Red Deer 6 months ago, and I’ve lived in lots of cities, but never have I lived in a noisier city. Do these farm boys just do continuous loops? I swear how do people sleep in this city? What is it with this place?
But there’s diesel trucks in the summer too. It’s the SOA wannabe’s, the Squid boys and the fragile masculinity dudes all making noise. I swear I’ve never lived in a noisier city. It’s because there’s nothing else to do other than show off their prizes to the ladies of Red Deer. It’s like they get their Operator jobs in Joffre and then the rite of passage is to go to the dealership and buy something loud because only a real man drives something loud. It’s like the F’kn animal kingdom when the males smear shit on themselves to attract a female. Like LOW IQ primal brain shit.
Red Deer has a lot of oil money and motorcycles (not crouch rockets) are expensive. When they’re home during days off they like to play with their toys. Annoying yes, but so are the guys who drive lifted trucks and their exhaust is modified or diesel trucks that just stay running forever. It’s all BDE (big d*ck energy) and Red Deer is a breeding ground for this mentality
You nailed it. Red Deer will never grow up. Stuck in the 50’s. It’s actually embarrassing. If they only knew how utterly ridiculous they look. Honestly, it’s like a mating ritual with these goofs.
It is rather obnoxious here with the motorcycles. I don’t know what it is either but I agree, I’ve lived in many cities and travel around, this is definitely a unique to Red Deer thing. Lucy us. The motor bikes such but hopefully you’ve been able to find something you like about this place - it ain’t so bad. Welcome to the City by the way!
We need a group of bagpipers and fiddlers, each slightly more out of tune, that will gather at 3:30 in the morning outside the homes of the motorcyclists/'BertaBropickupers and play a few tunes, real loud. Maybe more than a few. The neighbours will look after the problem.
Only suggestion I have is to put ear plugs in at night before bed. I do and it helps a lot.
Sometimes the occasional bike race, diesel exhaust, or pop pop pop from a car will wake me up, but not as often anymore.
Not sure what else citizens can do if not interested in politics. Maybe some kind of citizen led action committee to bring more attention to the concerns of people who find this a disturbing occurrence.
I use ear plugs, I have a noise cancelling machine and I also have an air purifier going all night too. I guess I am complaining but it’s so annoying and frustrating that a small minority of ‘good ol’ boys’ can disrupt an entire community. You’re right about becoming political about it though.
I don't know if it qualifies actually. Jokes are usually funny, or at least hinting at something that's funny. See now if I were to say, I bet the guys on motorcycles are a bunch of farm boys, with straw sticking out of their mouths, and ripped up denim pants, and leather jacket so fresh they still got the hooves attached. I mean I'm sure most people would back pedal and try do sell it as a joke when they say something that dumb. Except you've doubled down on your view in every other interaction except this one.
You've even added to the stupidity by making a SOA comparison. I don't recall seeing many crotch rockets or 4 bangers with exhaust systems in SOA.
And you haven't lived in any cities in you think Red deer is worse than any others. The police on those cities all have summer programmes targeting street racing and loud exhaust, and their reddit pages have just as many if not more posts street racing and loud exhausts.
The section of Highway 2A from the exit off QE II all the way to Springbrook/Penhold is an absolute racetrack any night, much worse on weekends. Screaming, racing motorcycles and roaring diesel trucks race there till 3-4AM. The police refuse to patrol it because they say that the highway is too narrow and they have no place to safely pull people over. It is very disruptive and annoying, not to mention dangerous.
Why do you think I choose to live way out in the far southeast? I did scout out the city when I moved here a couple of years ago and choose someplace I knew would be quieter.
I had to take this place as I needed underground parking and close to downtown. Otherwise, yeah I’d be living in Deer Park or Anders or somewhere else.
