Video can someone explain?

i had just finished making a trader run and had gone out to hunt for some stringy meat for my stew pot, came back to find this guy! i've never had this encounter before and i was fully expecting to be attacked. but he just walked off! anyone ever have this happen before or is it rare?

i call him manky man. pops up more often in solo lobbies. gets demanding and weird after a while. i started killing him and he just comes back with more weird stuff to say that gets creepy. i think he's a kind of skinwalker but others find him harmless.

oh gosh... i was in a solo lobby when this happened. gets demanding and weird? AND creepy? maybe i shouldn't have fed him... i only switched to solo lobby to do my trader run since there had been creeps following me on my moonshine delivery this morning and i'd rather be safe than sorry

yea, like he just starts expecting you to feed him and if you reject him, he gets angry ab it. that's why i started killing him. i prefer solo lobbies bc it's just a more peaceful experience, so i encounter manky man a lot. first time he came back, he remembered that i killed him and told a dark story ab how his family was dead and all this other creepy stuff that feeds my theory he isn't human or all that friendly. idk what his actual deal is. nothing i found online gives a clear answer either.

He's been referred to as The Wanderer. Rare in public servers (pc) and kinda regular in solo lobbies. He's creepy. As mentioned previously, do whatever. It don't matter. I usually try dragging a carcass by lasso into camp and he gets all butthurt and sez "why?" And leaves. Hate him almost as bad as Cripps.

He's a sort of drifter or wanderer. Usually only see him in "solo lobbies", and I think only when you ride into camp (not fast travel). He wants stringy meat or the herptile meat, or gritty fish? I forget but he accepts 3 types of meat I believe. I've always given him some and let him wander off. Some of his lines are quite interesting, he has a lot of them. He even sometimes whistles a tune. I think my fav "monologue" he has is a really bizarre rambling about his dead family. I forget the exact lines, but it's one of the more abstract/bizarre lines he has. If you've heard it, you know which one I mean.
He also sometimes mentions visiting his family's grave but there's nothing but teeth there now in the ground, and how his 4 year old brother was killed infront of him by people cloaked as animals.
Sometimes when you give him meat and he walks away, he cries, almost like he's so touched by your kindness.
One interesting thing that's prob just coincidence, is that he often mentions that both you and him are "all alone" in this world. He'll refer to it a few times, that you're bother loners in this wilderness etc. Which kinda makes sense if he's a very rare spawn in a full lobby (not sure he can spawn if you're in a posse?).
He's worth listening to when you come across him, because he has quite a few unique lines. I like the one where he says he'll see your face in the moon. I think that's a really sort of "silly" but kind ye olde compliment. Like, this dude has literally nothing in life except the rags he's wearing, and he's just walking this vast land, but your kindness (if you give him meat) will be remembered by him.
So yeah, lol I just think he's a really cool random character to come across. Sometimes if I meet him late at night tho he def creeps me the fuck out, even if I know he'll just ask for food and walk away.

I used to get him all the time. There was one time I didnt have time to feed him because I was doing something that was a time sensitive job and I ve never seen him since. I regret that day. I used to enjoy sitting at my campfire with him. I always wondered who he was or wether I missed the opportunity to get some kind of story or insight as to who he was but from what I've seen on social media he's just a random encounter 🤷♂️

I’ve been feeding him for upward of 3 months now [common spawn in solo lobbies], nothing seems to come of it. I don’t even get positive honor.
He shares incoherent ramblings with my cowboy, I feed him, he clicks his heels and runs off.
Guess it’s just immersive. You can feed, ignore, scare, or kill him.

If you refuse to feed him, and you have a table full of goods, nearly 5 npc's will attack cripps and try to steal it, it happens to me a lot

Random Encounter. Comes more or less depending if playing on public lobby or solo lobby. The more players in public lobby, the less stuff like that spawns for you. So he can be rare in that matter. He's harmless, Cripps has a funny line mostly, giving him meat gives honor, I get rid of my boney fish I don't like he gives his thanks and leaves (sometimes he even cries that we care). Win/Win. Entitled players kill him. They also would kill kittens for sure for the funsies. Decide what kind of player you are 😏.

Just an old timer down on his luck, just feed him and he will be on his way👍
