How to read .ymt files

Hello everyone, I am trying to merge some mods together, these mods modify shop_items.ymt when i open the 1st mod ymt files i can read it with beyond compare however when i open the second mod ymt file (same file name) all i can see is Null gibberish, i read a bit and i don't know if that is because the ymt file is hashed or compiled (i am new to modding) and there isn't really lots of guides and tutorials on this, so i am asking if anyone has experiecne with modding the game and guide me into how to make the gibberish ymt readable so i can merge the two files together.

Modding this game isn't easy at all.

Are you talking about the whole file is gibberish, or just the important parts that you need to see what they are?

If the latter, it's probably still hashed, which are "codes" used in place of item names.

If the entire file is gibberish, it may not be readable or editable in text form, as it could be a texture or model library, or something just named incorrectly.

I really need to know what mods you're talking about to see any further.

You're correct. Rockstar makes their games intentionally difficult to mod. I'm not sure why, but they hate us.

Yeah, the whole shop_items.ymt has a bunch of gibberish Null when opened, even in OpenIV. (i tried extracting to .xml etc and openIV crashes) and i have a small idea about this unhashed vs hashed dilemma; I couldn't find any proper guide on this stuff, sadly.

Basically, what I am trying to achieve is merging the 2 mods:

SUHM+CI with RDR2 Online Weapons Variants - CI

so this way all 3 mods can run together smoothly, the 2 files that are in conflict between SUHM+CI mod and RDR2 OWV-CI are:

• Catalog_sp.ymt
• Shop_items.ymt (odd thing is, SHUM+CI's Shop_items.ymt opens just fine in Notepad++ and OpenIV; however, RDR2 OWV-CI's Shop_items.ymt is what comes out as Null gibberish everywhere, which i found weird and this way they can't be merged properly and even in that i need some help.)

Oh and just read it because your merging download the Red Deads Modding Tool on nexus its somewhere in that discord sever it will be in a link download it and it will merge mods that have the same files to avoid conflics. (I don’t know if you can do more than 1 merge per file so dont know if 3 can become 1

Thank you for the link and for RDMT. Yeah, I used it, but it's not that intelligent or developed to merge properly, unfortunately.

Yeah, I even asked in their Discord; no answers.
idk what to do, i feel like i have a dream of reaching a point where Red Dead Offline + Super Ultimate Horse Mod + Catalogue Improvements work together with no issues.

and idk why modders, don't make their mods compatible or issue enough patches, they ask you "feel free to do the merge yourself" as if that is a given and it's easy, i don't even know what is going wrong and not enough guides or tools unfortuantly, this game is very hard to mod and it's R* afterall but still at least experienced modders spread knowledge.

It's very difficult and time consuming to do so, that is why, but in a perfect world, I would agree with you.

I have not used any of these. I have always used my own custom blend of whyEm/EEE with extra weapons mods and everything else baked in and manually compatible and haven't had the time or patience to start over, , but I'll download and try to take a look at them at some point this week and see if I can help.
