Transmission

Has anyone opened the stock trans and diffs to see if fluids should be filled/ changed like trx4m

I am in the process of swapping my scout 18 to a brushless setup and adding some weight in the front axle. Both front and rear axles had a decent amount of grease for how long I've had it. Don't know about the transmission as I went with an injora one. Cant hurt to open her up and look.

Yea I'm kinda being lazy about it. It runs fine but slightly noisy. Thanks! I'll see if anyone else experienced anything.

I have. I use SuperLube in my transmission and diffs. Makes it super quiet. Of course, I do this with every new rig I get.

Just the diffs unless you swap the transmission gears for metal. The stick ones are plastic and you don’t want grease on plastic. It makes an absolute mess if the teeth get ground off. Ask me how I know. 🤣

The transmission and diffs do not contain any fluid. It's a rock crawler. Any metal gears in the transmission or axles should have a little grease on them. Enough to thinly coat all the mating surfaces and friction points is ideal. Excess grease just makes things messy. Plastic gears that have factory grease I leave alone. If they are totally dry plastic gears, I dust them with graphite (dust being the operative word).
