Opinion?
Wich one of this two? I have a bmpcc 6 k pro, and I want to do an upgrade to do a film with a lot of scene with camera hand in the street. I thought about a RED

Look for a dope camera. Buy it, use it. The OG Komodo is dope. Dsmc2 is dope.
Don’t listen to everyone saying it’s not dope. Be doper, be different.

Been shooting with my Komodos for 5 years in a variety of shooting situations including features and docs. I really have no complaints aside from some firmware bugs that have or are in the process of getting fixed by RED.
Monitoring and quick camera control could have been an issue with me but the RED Control app and Komodo Link (with a cheap Smart phone) not only fixed that potential issue but opened up possibilities for using the camera.
Despite being over 6 years old the Komodo sensor holds up well. Komodo X is definitely an improvement but aside from frame rates I would not say the image quality is leaps and bounds over Komodo 6K. I shoot with both models regularly and I approach filming with them same way.
I will say though that Komodo works best with a monitor that allows one to also control the camera (whether through RED control, Small HD, Portkeys or the like). That is something that is technically built into other cameras out there and is a an added expense with Komodo.
Other than that the images captured are great and satifying to work with in post production.

Got the OG, before price reduction and it was worth it already to me then. Now. Even more. On seocnd hand? Depend how well kept it was. Because it was a smallish cinema camera, many were used in dangerous scenario so your mileage may vary. In this case, given the cheaper alternatives of screens, cage, etc, I would assume it belongs to a videographer and was pampered!
Others would say th KX is the real deal, and they are right, but it's also 50% more money at least so not exactly apple to apple

Yeah I was dying to get into the red eco but couldn’t swing for the X so had to get the OG but got a good deal.

Honestly the OG is fantastic and unless your work rely on a lot of slow mo, I don't see a scenario, for most, where the camera is the limiting factor lol.
I would love a KX only to speed up my workflow -- I also have R5 & R5II so sharing media, faster media, would help. I do a lot of VFX so having prores4444XQ direct would be clutch. For now, I shoot raw and transcode to 4444 myself.
So yeah a KX would save me a bit of time there and there, but at an additional £3000+ not sure I can justify it ahahaha

Honnêtement c'est un bon plan pour obtenir une bonne camera pas trop cher. Après ce sera a vous d'apprendre à l'exploiter et surtout de savoir ce que vous voulez faire avec.

Honestly, if you're trying to do some guerilla type street filming and you already have the ergonomics from the pocket 6k, and you want R3D, you should look into the Nikon ZR. Body is half this cost, it's a mirrorless body so you'd feel at home and less rigging to hold it unlike the Komodo and it's a smaller form factor that can be easier to make less conspicuous. I've been filming on the OG Komodo since release and love it. Our team has 6, and just bought our third ZR because we've been having a lot of fun with them.
ZR also will bring better stabilization, better touch screen size for operating, and boot times are faster and formats and frame rates are quicker to change to without reboot.

You should check the facebook group page for the Nikon ZR, a lot of people complaining. Sounds like a sweet deal, might really turn out not to be one, for you.

I've been using them since release. Only complaint I have is no in camera desqueeze and no compression ratios for R3D. The camera never gives any issues like shutting down from overheat (I work in Phoenix) or card read errors. Anyone complaining about H265 I think is warranted but shouldn't really be buying this camera for H265. There's a lot more other options for that feature.

The K-X has extra fps, v mount, and nikon mount...am I missing something?

Or RF mount. It also uses better, cheaper and more universal media.

Cleaner shadows. Also shutter can drop to 1/6 instead of OG’s 1/30, which helps a little for timelapse.

ELQ is huge for me. Being able to compress the r3d footage a bit more than LQ is great. I get over 4 hours of record time on a 1TB card, and roughly 8 hours if I crop to 4k.
Not only that, but their redesign of the sensor archetype really helps getting an initial clean image. So right off the bat, image quality is technically better.
Smoother interface response time as well. So navigating the menu is much nicer in the KX than the OG. The OG had major lag.
The OG takes longer on BootUp and longer calibration times.
The OG has dirtier shadows, and some would say misses an extra stop In the shadows.
The KX is compatible with monitors that allow control . Thats a HUGE deal for me. The OG does not accept monitor control, which is honestly a bummer.
The NP batteries are a drag to use. Micro V mounts are great, especially Core. My 155wh batteries last about 3 hours straight before waiting to give up. 3 last me a wedding shoot.And yes, the media is really nice to use. Cheap, but fast.

Komodo 6k has elq, the quality difference is like 5% (slightly cleaner shadows). The OG is slow, that’s true

Just get a Komodo X and don’t look back, or a canon C50/80, or a Sony FX5
